1. Warpin Warning
==================

      *********************************************
      WARNING - DO NOT INSTALL WITH Warpin V0.9.19
      IT WILL FAIL AND CORRUPT YOUR WARPIN DATABASE
      See below for details.
      *********************************************

          XShadow must be installed using WarpIN.

          Note: Use WarpIN V0.9.8 or higher but not V0.9.19 to install
          this archive.

          Warpin V0.9.19 has a bug that causes the installation to fail
          and the Warpin database to become corrupted. This means that you
          will not be able to install any further software (including Warpin!)
          until you either repair the database, delete the database or delete
          & re-install Warpin. Note that the last two alternatives will lead
          to you being unable to de-install any previously installed software.
          The sympton is the error message "Exception occured on main thread"
          when you try to use Warpin as well as an initial error during the
          attempted installation of XShadow.

          The database may be repaired in the following manner. (Yes I know
          you weren't meant to do it but you did it anyway!)

          * Start up the os2 registery editor - X:\OS2\SYSTEM\REGEDIT2.EXE,
            where X is you OS/2 installation drive. You should be able to
            do this by simply typing regedit2 at a command line.

          * Select "File-> Open Profile..." from the menu and navigate to
            your Warpin directory and open the warpin database file DATBAS_C.INI.

          * Locate the keys that start with Peter O'Donoghue\XShadow and delete
            them - select the key in the main window & then selext Edit->Delete
            from the menu.

          * Close the database by selecting the data-base in the main window and
            selecting the menu item "File->Close Profile".

2. IF IT ALL GOES HORRIBLY WRONG - READ THIS BEFORE INSTALLATION !!!!
======================================================================

         XShadow has its effect through a SOM Class contained in the
         DLL XShadow.dll. It may be completely disabled by renaming
         or deleting this DLL in the ?:\OS2\DLL directory.

        Recovery process:
         * Reboot the machine.
         * When the Boot Blob appears (A solid block at the top left of
           the screen) press Alt and F1 keys together. This will boot
           to the boot recovery screen.
         * Select "Boot to command line ..."
         * When a command prompt appears delete or rename the DLL
           as described above eg. del c:/OS2/DLL/XShadow.dll
         * Reboot and uninstall the package as described in 4. below.
           This is necessary to ensure classes are deregistered. There
           may be an error indicating that the file deleted above cannot
           be deleted again (for obvious reasons!)

          Use WarpIn to uninstall this package otherwise classes will
          not be correctly deregistered.

          Details:
          You can run warpin by itself and delete the two packages
          associated with XShadow. Alternatively, simply start a new
          installation and choose the uninstall option at the package
          screen (click on each package until a red cross appears
          indicating un-installation of that package).
