1. IBM PLANS FOR OS/2 GET POSITIVE REACTION FROM ANALYSTS

IBM's plans and strategy for OS/2, as outlined by John W. Thompson at
Comdex, were very enthusiastically received by industry analysts.

The Dataquest analyst thought John W. Thompson was the first IBMer in a
long while to give a clear statement of direction for OS/2. He felt the
steps were all in the right direction. With the right direction set,
the only question the analyst raised was whether IBM can move as fast as
it needs to both with OS/2 and the software from Lotus.

Absolutely, we can and we will!

2. NEW OS/2 ADS TARGET BANKING AND INSURANCE INDUSTRIES

Two new ads were released on November 27, 1995 that introduce a new
layout style for the OS/2 Warp Capabilities Campaign. This new style
features a pull-down menu which delivers the headline.

Targeting the banking and insurance industries, they demonstrate
industries around the world that use OS/2 to run their mission critical
applications.

The banking ad features a small boy with his jar of coins. The pull-
down menu states:

"It's his life savings.
All six years of it.
It goes into the bank and gets processed into the system.
Along with 123,441 other transactions.
Will it be handled with the same accuracy as a million-dollar deposit?
Absolutely. The bank has an account with OS/2."

The insurance ad pictures an exterior shot of a flooded house with a man
floating by in his boat. The pull-down menu states:

"The flood was unexpected.
The flood of insurance claims was very expected.
Adjustors worked around the clock.
Data poured into the systems.
Checks had to go out immediately.
Good thing the insurance companies were covered by OS/2."

The promise made by these ads is that "OS/2 is the operating system of
choice when mission critical computing is the issue." A healthcare
industry ad and a multi-industry ad are also planned. These ads seek to
reaffirm IBM's support of OS/2 and will also segue into the launch of
OS/2 Warp Server.

Look for these ads in IT, insurance, banking and business press. They
will appear only in the U.S. in '95, with a possibility of world wide
roll-out in '96.

3. PERSONAL SOFTWARE SERVICES NOW ON THE INTERNET

IBM Personal Software Services has a home page on the Internet available
through the World Wide Web. The URL for this site is:
http://ps.software.ibm.com

This homepage supports all the software products included in the
Personal Systems Support Family (OS/2, OS/2 Warp, PCDOS, LAN,
Communications Manager, and all the other applications running on this
platform). The Personal Software Services Home Page provides technical
assistance to customers via the Internet.

The following features are available to assist with problem
determination and resolution:

* Technical Information, Hints and Tips
     - a compilation of technical information and closed APARs
(Authorized Program Analysis Reports) which can be keyword-
searched using a powerful search engine, or downloaded to your
        system

* Publicly-Available Fix Packages and Device Drivers
     - an accumulation of device drivers and fix packages for the
        products on this platform

*  Exchange of Files
     - an FTP site to exchange files with a technical support
representative while working on a specific problem (ie, traces,
        dumps, etc.)

If you are a United States customer, and you have purchased a Support
Line contract, you can submit requests for technical assistance by
presenting your customer number and personal identification number(PIN).
You will be prompted to select a product, then submit a full description
of your problem. A problem management record (PMR) is created in our
problem tracking database and sent to the appropriate support center for
that product. The technical support representatives updates the problem
record, and the full text is then returned to you via E-mail. Sign on
to the system and take a look!

If you don't know your customer number or PIN, and you have purchased or
want to purchase a Support Line contract, contact the Personal Systems
SupportFamily Marketing Center at 1-800-799-7765.

4. JUST ADD OS/2 WARP FAQS

The overwhelming interest in the JUST ADD OS/2 WARP kit over the last
few weeks has been most gratifying. Our Web server has been extremely
active with downloads ("on its knees" is a phrase that comes to mind).
The entire run of diskette packages has been distributed, and the crew
at Comdex came home empty handed after giving out lots of free CD-ROM
copies in Las Vegas.

With the all the activity on the downloads and 800#, it was inevitable
that some questions arise about the kit. We have responded with a
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) package that includes the most common
questions asked over the first several weeks.

You can find the "Just Add OS/2 Warp FAQ" package and the Just Add
OS/2 Warp Kit in the following locations:

5. HYPERVIEW GOES PM

The developer of the HyperView file viewer program announced an all new
version for OS/2 Presentation Manager. The HyperView package includes
both the new PM version 3.0 as well as the classic text mode edition.

HyperView is a high performance file viewer with special features for
isolating and extracting information from word processing and text
files. It reads popular word processing formats, ASCII text files, and
files compressed in the ZIP format. Word processing files in ZIP
archives are automatically converted to text.

With HyperView, you focus quickly on pertinent information. HyperView's
search function lets you tag all lines of text containing a matching
search string. Text may also be tagged and untagged manually. Tagged
lines are viewed in a separate window and displayed simultaneously--in
context--in the main text window.

These are some of HyperView's features:

o Automatically recognizes and reads popular word processing formats,
    including:
Ami Pro, Clearlook, DeScribe, Microsoft Word for Windows,
    WordPerfect

o Automatically recognizes compressed files in the ZIP format. Works
in tandem with Info-ZIP's UNZIP.EXE to view compressed files
directly, without making a copy on your hard drive. Compressed
files with long file names and names with spaces may be viewed even
    on non-HPFS drives.

o Tag and untag lines of text manually or automatically, from the
    search dialog.

o View files in full screen, condensed, or split screen views.

o Can be used as a file viewer with you favorite file manager.

o All or part of a file may be gathered and copied or appended to the
OS/2 clipboard or to a file.

o Directory listing to pick file for viewing and to navigate file
   system.

o Supports long file names and names with spaces.

o Case insensitive searches may be performed in any language.

6. SYNTEGRATION INTRODUCES TRAVELING WORKPLACE

Syntegration has released its newest product, TRAVELING WORKPLACE. This
useful tool can backup, restore, create and manage OS/2 Workplace
images. Users can save these images on a floppy drive, local hard drive
or network file server.

TRAVELING WORKPLACE automatically saves the files that define the OS/2
Desktop settings and icons on an OS/2 desktop. Users can select
additional to save with the workplace image. These additional files
will then be recovered when an archive set is restored.

TRAVELING WORKPLACE also allow users to backup a desktop on one
workstation and restore it on another. With this capability, users can
move from one workstation to another and still use their own desktop.

If you want to maintain different desktops for each user who accesses a
workstation, TRAVELING WORKPLACE can immediately restore a workplace
image. You don't have to shut down and restart your computer to make
the restored workplace active.

TRAVELING WORKPLACE allows users to create and maintain up to 36 on-line
desktops. Users can then switch between these desktops instead of
restoring a workplace. The switching mechanism is much faster than
restoring.

End users can share their workstation with their children and others
without giving them access to sensitive applications. For instance, you
can configure a games-only workplace. Network administrators can
provide different workplaces for each user or user group and manage them
without taking a trip to the workstation.

You can order TRAVELING WORKPLACE through retail channels in the U.S.,
Canada and Europe or directly from Syntegration.

7. WARP'D HUMOR

"The concept is interesting and well-formed, but in order to earn better
than a 'C,' the idea must be feasible."
   - A Yale University management professor in response to a paper
written by Fred Smith, founder of Federal Express, proposing a
     reliable overnight delivery service.

"Who the hell wants to hear actors talk?"
   - H.M. Warner, Warner Brothers, 1927.
