addition to the Owner's Manual before installing
PowerChute plus for OS/2. Installation and

The PowerChute plus Release Notes take precedent over
	the PowerChute plus Owners's Manual.

The CONFIG.SYS was modified to add the Pwrchute
	directory to the LIBPATH.

The variable SET PWRCHUTE=DRIVE:\PATH was also
	added to the CONFIG.SYS.

	The file STARTUP.CMD was modified/created
	to auto start UPSD.EXE.

The UPS service routine path was modified to point to
the PowerChute install path.

Stand Alone OS/2:

Ensure that UPSD is the first command in
	the STARTUP.CMD file.

	Reboot the OS/2 system.

When the system restarts, ensure UPSD.EXE is
	started and communication is established.

Lan Installations:

	*****IMPORTANT*****

If LAN Servers' own (naitive) UPS service is
installed it MUST be removed for PowerChute
plus to work correctly. To verify this the user
can look at the ibmlan.ini file in the ibmlan directory.
If the SRVSERVICES line contains UPS, then UPS
must be removed from	the line. The [ services ]
section in the ibmlan.ini file will contain the path for
the ups service. The line will be similar to the following:

		ups = services\ups.exe

This line needs to be removed or commented out.

	********************

If you are running PowerChute on more than
one server in your network, refer to the
PowerChute manual to add a PWRCHUTE account,
and Named pipe to your domain.

When starting the PowerChute interface screen
in a Domain with other PowerChute servers, not
all systems may appear in the "Select Server" dialog
	upon startup.

If the server you wish to connect to is not in
the list, ensure that UPSD is running on that system.
If so, simply cancel out of the "Select Sever" box, and
	choose "MONITOR DIFFERENT SERVER". This
will give the LAN enough time to gather all the
	available servers.

OS/2 3.0 (WARP) Users

If you are using OS/2 Warp on an EISA machine, there
is the possibility that there is a problem with the
COM.SYS driver which ships with the software. This
driver is essential for the proper operation of PowerChute
plus. If you are having problems communicating with
the UPS, then contact IBM Tech Support at the number
on the inside of your OS/2 Warp Owner's Manual. You
will need to ask for APAR PJ15906.

EMAIL Support

The EMAIL Flex Event is not supported in this release.
