I agree. OS/2 is still the best replacement for DOS for those who
want
multitasking and native networking support for their DOS apps. I've been
running 2 dialup nodes of PCBoard along with one local node for about 37 days
without having to touch the system. I've also got the Distributed.Net OS/2
client running in the background cracking RC5 keys. And all this on a P5
133Mhz with only 48MBs of RAM. I've had it running longer than that nonstop
but I took the system down to install a new network card.

Well, here's another _newbie_ ! This is my first full week under OS/2
and my learning curve keeps getting steeper! I switched from running a
odd ball DOS BBS (TerHOST) under WIN98, to Adept under OS/2 all at the
same time! Talk about a glutton for punishment....

BTW, TerHOST (Terminate's Host Mode & highly modified by me), works
super under OS/2. Quite frankly, it's faster under OS/2 than under WIN98,
which was even faster than DESQView. <g>

This isn't complete either.....I don't see my node nor that of my feed
which is 109/921, which leads me to believe there are probably several more
that aren't shown in the seenby's.

Once upon a time, out on MARS.

While reading the mail, wispering this:

Of course! Win9x is a resource glutton, and even on fairly high
power systems can bring it to a crawl. If you need any hints or
tips, there's a techie doc written by Tony Harrison (of WildCat!
fame) that lays out numerous helpfull tips and more for running
Dos based apps under OS/2. It is called FULLOS2.ZIP (available
here) and can be freq'ed from me at 1:219/308 via ftsc, or via
automated reply by InternetRex via

Hey, there's even some of us downunder who do likewise. :-)

However, I got most of the bugs out of running a DOS based BBS under OS/2
years ago - I rarely need to ask for help now.

I already have FULLOS2 as well as Tony's FULLWIN files here. Haven't
really looked at the OS/2 version, since I'm no longer running a DOS based
BBS under OS/2 however, _IF_ for whatever reason, not to my liking, I
still have TerHOST to fall back on, as well as Wildcat v4.20.

 Later...

 Have a GREAT one!

Mind you. it's possible to do that well or better at networking *and*
support systems too old to run OS/2. But Netware is a bit too expensive
for most folks. :-)
