Thanks for the reply, and I think I should have been clearer about the purpose
of what I was trying to achieve, basically this is it

I have a number of EPM bars 1) for html editing, 2) one for java 3) one for
CPP
I was trying to get epm to load a particular Bar depending on what file was
being opened,
One way of doing this would be through a Rexx prog which would change the
settings in the epm
ini file, but then I thought there must be a better way of ding this ie though
one of the epm *.e files

Did you look at setconfig in stdctrl.e around line 2200 ? Should be
callable from defload / defselect.

4 CDs for Warp 4? I installed it from one (a long time ago), and I do not
think you need anything more. The others are extras you can add after
installation if you want them.

I guess this must be a poor translation. You need three diskettes and one CD
to do the installation. The bootable diskette should be labeled "Installation
diskette", and I suppose that is the one the system is asking for. The others
are "Diskette 1" and "Diskette 2". Unless there is a problem with your
hardware, this should be what you boot from after the drive has been prepared
for installation by FDISK. Do NOT choose "easy installation" or whatever it is
called. Make a suitable boot partition (some 200-300 MB) and format it as
HPFS, leave the rest of the drive as one partition for data and applications
(also to be formatted as HPFS).

If the CD-ROM drive is not supported out of the box, or if the disk you
install to is not a SCSI drive and bigger than 2GB, you will need to get one
or more updated device drivers. The Warp 4 install program has been known to
give wrong error messages when it cannot deal with the disk or CD-ROM drives.

If you have SET COPYFROMFLOPPY=1 set in CONFIG.SYS then it will ask for
the first two diskettes to be reinserted at the end of the first phase of
the install. This is so that it can copy the updated drivers from them to
the HD. If memory serves it asks for them in reverse order, so diskette #1
then #0 (aka the install diskette).

I just bought this still unused copy of this mysterious VisualAge 2.0

Maybe you could use something from VIOCLI.CMD:

/*
   Usage: VIOCLI height width command
     e.g. VIOCLI 20 12 dir

*/
parse arg height width command
FontMenuEntry = 'Schrif~tartgre...'
call rxFuncAdd 'SysIni', 'REXXUTIL', 'SysIni'
newFontSize = d2c(width)||d2c(height)
oldFontSize = SysIni( 'USER', 'Shield', FontMenuEntry )
call SysIni 'USER', 'Shield', FontMenuEntry, newFontSize
'@start /win /C ' || command
call SysSleep 1
if oldFontSize <> 'ERROR:' then
call SysIni 'USER', 'Shield', FontMenuEntry, oldFontSize
 else
call SysIni 'USER', 'Shield', FontMenuEntry, 'DELETE:'
exit

Hi all,

I just installed Visualage Java version 3.0 professional
on my WSeB SMP machine and I noticed that the
tool icons on the Visual Composition tab for all the
various wigets (JToggleButon, JLabel etc) are just
a black square. This applies to Swing, AWT and
any others that can be selected for the toolbar.

This is the vertical toolbar that is on the left hand
side of the Visual Composition page.

I am running this with the SDD/2 beta 11 drivers
and an ATI 3D Rage IIC card.

Is anyone else seeing this same problem, and if
you aren't, what video card and drivers are you
using?

It's a general GRADD problem. you can find a fix for it at:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/vajava/fixes/v20os2/graddfix.zip

SDD/2 beta 9 was rather unstable with this fix. Eventually,
it would crash. For examplem, I could not exit out of OS/2 Full-screen
and closing windows would cause crashes(esp. Netscape windows).
No experience with beta 11 yet.

Subj: How to use DDK DDTT

From: pjfloyd@my-deja.com

Hi

In my efforts (vain, to date) to be able to read multisession CDs on
OS/2, I started looking at earnest at the DDK last night.

My first effort was to try the DDTT (device driver test tool)
with the currently existing os2cdrom.dmd etc. The DDK is installed
on my PC, but there is almost no documentation on how to run
the scripts. There is documentation on ddtt.exe, though.

In \ddk\testcert\general there is ddtt itself, some dlls and grammar
files.

In \ddk\testcert\storage\function are test scripts, more dlls related
testing storage devices, grammar files for DASD, CDROM & optical
devices, ddtt script files and OS/2 scripts.

I added the two directories to my beginlibpath, and to the path/dpath.
However, running the scripts from the storage directory, ddtt did
not find the grammar file general.gra, so I copied it to this
directory.

I think I understand roughly how it is supposed to work:
1. The .cmd files set up the environment, then call ddtt with the script
files as parameters.
2. the script files contain references described in the grammar files.
They also contain references to DLLs and functions contained in the
DLLs. ddtt interprets the scripts by calling dll functions (with
parameters also specified in the scripts).

However, in practice ddtt simply bombs out with an access error in
ddtcdrom.dll

On possibility is that my copy of the DDK is not up to date, I have
a copy on CD that dates from the era of DevCon 12. There does
seem to be some difference in the scripts in the "latest" version from
the IBM DDK site (most recent file Nov 97). I haven't put it on
my PC at home yet though, perhaps tonight.

Other than trying the more up to date version, does anyone have
any suggestions how to get this to work?

A+

Yes. No (outdated and incomplete). Better get the DDK and cannibalize one of
the drivers for your own purposes. You haven't said what kind of driver you
want to write.

If Microsoft is ever going to produce something that does not suck,
it is very likely a vacuum cleaner.

I've decided to try writing a device driver too. :-)
With gcc/emx it isn't possible to develop device drivers.
If I'm wrong, somebody should correct me.

I've downloaded from the DDK site MSC6 and MASM, and I have
succesfully compiled some drivers. The source code for this
drivers I've downloaded from the DDK Site too. There is some
example code for each type of device driver. (storage, printer...)

After I had compiled some driver succesfully, it shouldn't be
a problem for you.

Check out the following web pages:

http://www.edm2.com/ there is a page from Timur Tabi with a lot
of usefull links regarding device drivers.
And there is a mailing list.

At http://rover.wiesbaden.netsurf.de/~meile/
you can find some information if you want to begin writing
a device driver. Follow the link "warpstock".
(the information is english)

With best regards,

Detlef Graef

Check http://www.amazon.com/ Timur Tabi has wrote a comment about
this Book at amazon.

If I'm right, he said that most of the Information is found in
the online Documentation of the DDK too. But check please check that
yourself.
