Subj: PPPOE support in SafeFire PPP

From: tvv@sbs.kiev.ua (Vit Timchishin)

We would like to add some more information about PPPoE support in SafeFire PPP

0.9.57 beta to answer some users questions:
1) This support is available in all versions of SafeFire PPP without any
additional cost. Even in the Value version ($15) you has full single user
client
and even server features(for establishing of peer-to-peer connection)
including
FireWall filtering feature.

2) There is confusing line in the documentation:
"You must not have IBM TCP/IP protocol attached to the adapter for PPP over
Ethernet to function properly. If this adapter is used only for PPP over
Ethernet and you don't need ordinal TCP/IP on it, Delete this protocol."
must be read as
"You don't need to have IBM TCP/IP protocol attached to the adapter for PPP
over
Ethernet to function properly. If this adapter is used only for PPP over
Ethernet and you don't need ordinal TCP/IP on it, Delete this protocol."
I.E. Adding othe protocols to the MAC is supported, but ordinal TCP/IP is not
needed since SafeFire PPP will create it's own pppXX adapter.

3) Additional tip for users that can't establish PPPOE connection is to add
"timeout.echo.time=-1" line in the [ppp] section of configuration file and
wait
few minutes even if you don't have connection working.
