I bought a used Matrox Millennium for C$40. That was one of
the best deals I had in recent memory. I also looked for a new
PCI card, but could not find any.

I use a ViewSonic VPA150 together with a Matrox Mystique video adapter
and I'm very happy with them. I run the Matrox drivers v. 2.23.082 at
1024x768x65K with a 75Hz refresh rate.

The drivers delivered with my G400 are not very good and also not very FAST!!

There is no link on the Matrox web site, but I hope they will care bout that

From: Gunther Natter <g.natter@medianet.at>

I bought a Savage4 AGP Card and it doesn't work at all under OS/2. The
Card seems to be ok - no problems under Win95.
OS/2 hangs with a trap at the beginning of boot process. I tried new
hardware detection and resetting video to VGA but - no way to get Warp
booting ...
Do I need a special driver for AGP?

Any suggestions?

In the BIOS of the machine, do you have the setting for
vidio to use an IRQ. If I remember right, my Matrox
video card did this as well if set to off.

Subj: XFree86 and Mach64 setup help needed.

From: rappleby@cadvision.com (Ray Appleby)

Superprobe reports:

First video: Super-VGA
	Chipset: ATI 88800GX-C (Port Probed)
	Memory: 2048 Kbytes
RAMDAC: ATI 68830 15/16-bit HiColor DAC
(with 6-bit wide lookup tables (or in 6-bit mode))
	Attached graphics coprocessor:
		Chipset: ATI Mach64
		Memory: 2048 Kbytes

I read that VLB Mach64 cards will work properly with the current
release of XFree86 (3.3.5) even if the system has more than 12Mb of
main ram. I have 32Mb on a 486DX66 but when I ran Xconfig, there was
no specific setting for this video card.

When I run 'startx', the XServer runs through all available
resolutions and marks them all 'Deleted' leaving no available
resolution to run the XServer.

I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Scan 17FS monitor which will support
1024x768 at 70 Hz with a horizontal frequency of 56.5 kHz.

Any suggestions as to which ATI settings will work for my setup?

I made up a X-windows.cmd that says this... start x in 32 bit mode
if you have 4 meg of video ram
You do have the svga server for your ATI card?

ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1

startx -- -bpp 32

Without the complete server output, no useful answer is possible.
It may be that the server fails to find the correct RAM amount (although
this is rather unlikely for the Mach) or you have setup pretty invalid
monitor settings for the requested resolutions.

About 3/4" black space between the display edge and the screen edge on
each side on the monitor.

I have a Mil II adapter with a older Vesa compliant 14" 60Hz monitor
with an unlisted monitor definition in mga.mon

I also have Win98+ with power desk settings....

monitor settings chose; -custom -test

adjust the monitor screen so fills the screen as much as it can without
going over the screen edge...
this includes adjusting the screen centering controls on the monitor.

save.... use...

In OS/2 open the OS/2 and Win98 MGA.MON files...

transfer the User defined monitor settings from the bottom of Win98
MGA.MON file to the OS/2 MGA.MON file.

Save and reboot...

Clicking on MGA settings; -Monitor scrolling down to User defined...
Click on
Then to the resolution tab... clicking on you desired available
resolution...

Your user defined monitor settings will now be available to you in OS/2

a fully wider screen for me.... :-))))

Works here...

Sincerely Glenn Strazds

I backed up my old MGA.MON file just in case..

Yeah. There is 5.50. In this version you can't use anti-aliasing in X
however. Have a look at
http://www.ime.rwth-aachen.de/~michael/os2/ghostscript/index.html

I'm aware of the later versions for OS/2 but there is only one
designated for X11 on Hobbes. I don't have the tools or the knowledge
to compile the source from later versions under XFree86/X11.

Are you saying that I can run the OS/2 native code under XFree86?

Will installing the OS/2 version 5.50 solve the "Can't find the
gs_init.ps" file problem?

I bought Ghostscript on CD-ROM from the author and avoided all the hassle. I
may have also downloaded EMX runtime from somewhere.

Subj: Setting Refresh Rate?

From: "C. Keltsch" <carsten@keltsch.de>

Hello,

I've got a Diamond Viper Pro PCI with a WEITEK 9130 Chip. Warp 4 can use
it with
it built-in driver for the Weitek 9100, but I am not able to set the
Refresh-Rate for the
System. Is there another solution to get away from the incredible 60Hz
... :(

Any hints are welcome,

Carsten

I have used this driver a long time ago. You will find under the OS2
folder a new folder called POWER91 or WEITEK, in this folder is a
setup program.

Subj: GRADD .8 screwed up video install

From: dunmunro@direct.ca (Duncan Munro)

I recently tried to install GRADD .8 on a Warp4/FP10 machine with a
S3765 PCI card. The install failed and now I cannot reinstall my older
S3 2.8.4 drivers. using setvga gets me a plain VGA install but when I
try to install the older drivers it fails with an "unable to find
valid .dsp file" or words to that effect. Has anyone else run into
this problem?

TIA

Duncan

Same problem here..

I went back to 222.078 which works well here.

Apparently 223 fixes a couple of problems I'm not apprised of.

or go ahead to 2.31 which I have not done yet..
