There seems to be some consensus that this is the result of cleaning
up the Netscape cache.

Go to http://ncic.netmag.cz/apps/nase/smartcache_e.html, get
SmartCache and install it, then set the disk cache size to zero, and
the memory cache to 1024. (I think this requires an HPFS partition,
for the long file name support).

You can then set ALL of your browsers to zero disk cache, and use
SmartCache in ALL of them (only one cache directory).

It is also possible that Pulse is causing the problem. Try it witthout
Pulse running (this is a longshot, but you never know <g>).

Hope this helps...

Harry,

IBM does say:

Q15. Does AT&T WorldNet(r) Service offer an OS/2 dialer?
A15. No. The AT&T WorldNet(r) Service does not offer an OS/2 dialer.
If you
are an OS/2 customer, please click here
     http://www.ibm.net/whatsnew/att_choose.html to remain a customer
of AT&T
Business Internet Services and to continue to use your OS/2
dialer.

I doubt I will continue to use their service. I only use it as back
up anyway. I use PSI net. We buy InterRamp accounts in blocks of
five but I think they do have personal accounts available. Not the
cheapest, but good solid service. You can use the DOIP dialer without
a problem.

Thanks for posting this. I have been wondering if Warp 3 is actually a
supported platform for 4.61 -- the way I read the announcement, it appeared
to me "Warp 3" had been omitted from the list. Your post doesn't tell me if
its officially supported for Warp 3, but at least I now know it appears to be
able to install.

Subj: Problems dialing to the Internet (Help please)

From: Sergi Ballester <balleste@boehringer-ingelheim.es>

Hi all,

First: Sorry for the crossposting

Second: The real problem:

I'm going through a problem that it may have been suffered by anybode
else.
The problem is that I can't connect to the Internet with my home machine
via modem (PPP).
One month ago I installed FP 10 (I don't know if one thing carried the
other), but I can't connect (I have been working with no problems for
the 3 last years). After this problem appeared I downloaded Injoy and
registered it (everybody say that it's a terrific app) with no success,
even tried SIO. I got a free account from one of the biggest spanish
providers with it own dialer called Teleline.

I'm trying all these dialers and providers:
"Dial other internet provider" --> Redes tb + Airtelnet + Teleline
Injoy 2.2    ----> Redes tb + Airtelnet + Teleline
Infovia plus ---->  Teleline

The problem I'm getting is:
Call established.
My machine gets an IP adress from the provider.
After a few seconds the conections suddenly stops.

I have an account at ibm.net that works perfectly using IBM Dialer
(SLIP), but I don't want to use it due to fact that IBM is not a local
provider.

My machine is:
Clone P166 + 96MB + S3 Virge 2MB + US Robotics Sporter external 28.8 +
Warp 4.0 Spanish + FP 10 + SIO drivers

All this makes me thing about a problem with the TCP/IP setup, but I'm
not aware of me changing anything. Any idea out there??

TIA,
Sergi Ballester (Sabadell, Spain)

Hi Sergi:

The only simple solution that I can think of is that your
resolv files are not correct. You may have a resolv and a
resolv2 file, and their contents should be something like:

domain <host (you)>
<nameserver ip #1>
<nameserver ip #2>

What is the name of the EXE you are using to launch REALPLAYER?

It needs to either be blank (WPS) or be REALPLAY.EXE

(Netscape licensing stuff)

It doesn't work. When I put realplay.exe in there, I got the Netscape
message asking if I wanted to download RealPlayer. I got it to work
when someone e-mailed me the text of a rexx command that takes the
file and directly feeds it to RealPlayer.

Hello John

I know this may not be of much help but realaudio is working correctly for me.
I am listening to to the Sounds Like Science program on Realaudio as I type
this message. There must be something wrong with your setup.

Just as installed by the plugin pack, and just as listed in the app
section of preferences. I am thinking it is a FN problem, as these are
bigger than the 8.3 FN of WinOS.

But, so far, the best way I have found to listen to RA stuff is to boot
Win98, and use the netscape there. It also seems 'crisper', but that may
have been because of hte number of things I had open in Warp.

Mat,

FWIW I've been using Mindspring (via DOIP) for the past year and a half
with no serious problems. The last time I looked their 'web site had
information on how to set up OS/2 to link in to them, but they offer no
OS/2-specific assistance. We're sort of in the same class as Linux
users (;-).

On the other hand, I haven't seen anyone else (other than ibm.net) who
currently _does_.

Question regarding the Warp Server for e-Business and Apache web server.
After installing the apache code including emx lib I get sys182:

SYS0182: The operating system cannot run ***.

EXPLANATION: The application program cannot run on this version
of the OS/2 operating system.

ACTION: Reinstall the application and retry the command. If the
error occurs again, contact the supplier of the application.

Anyone that manage to get apache to run under wsfeb, if yes what your setup?
Anything else that I might have to give an extra thought about?

Dear John,

unfortunately there is no additional information when I start netscape from
the OS/2
window. It starts and maybe 2 seconds later it exits again.
