Subj: Gal Civ. "productivity increases" with "Improvements"

From: rwhutch@nr.infi.net (R.W. Hutchinson)

It seems to me that the "estimates" are rather far removed from "reality"
in some contexts. I always implement "Controlled Environment" last, for
example,
and it does HARDLY ANYTHING for productivity, despite the "est" 30%
improvement.
Anyone make sense of this?

It's probably not worth pointing this out, but I will do it anyway. One
day these prophets of doom will get it right.

Subj: IPX with OS/2 and Win98

From: btjin@home.com

Has anyone gotten IPX to work (i.e. communiate) with OS/2 (on one
machine) and Win98 (on another)? I got the Netware Client for OS/2
2.12 installed and it's all set up but when I try load C&C and goto
Network I can't see the other computer and vice versa. I even forced
both computers to use the same Frame type (802.3) and still no luck.
Any ideas?

You must install (using MPTS) Netware Netbios Emulation to achieve this.
IPX by itself is not enough. You should not install Novells netbios
emulation.

Greate that M$ doesn't tell what it really is installing...
