1. Application

Split'n'Kit/2 is a small tool for OS/2 to copy large files (that won't fit on one floppy disk)
on several disks. It is easy in use and supports drag&drop.

There is a PM version available and a command line tool for OS/2 as for Windows 95,
so you can split and kit files under both operating systems.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Installation

Please follow the steps to install Split'n'Kit/2 on your System:

        Remark:
Steps 4 -7 are optional, if you want to open a file from
	the context men with Split'n'Kit/2..

1 Copy Split'n'Kit/2 (pmsk.exe) in a directory of your choice.
2 Create a program object on your desktop as follows:
Click with your right mouse button on pmsk.exe and choose
'Create program object'. Select the desktop from the opened window.
The new program object is created on your desktop.
3 Open the properties windows of the created program object and
change the name to "Split'n'Kit/2" under the 'symbol' tab.
4 Open the properties windows of your system editor
        5 Choose the 'association' tab.
6 Enter "*.*" under new name and press the 'add' button.
With this step, you associate all files to your system editor by default.
This is under OS/2 already the case, but you have to do this explicitly.
If you would do the same for the Split'n'Kit/2 program object,
you would lose the default setting for the system editor.
Therefor you need to change FIRST your editor's setting.
7 Open the properties windows of your created Split'n'Kit/2 program object.
Enter "*.*" under 'associations' and add it.
8 You can drag&drop files on the program object and split files.

        Have fun!

5.	Command line tool

Split'n'Kit/2 offers the following 'command line tools':

        clsk.exe and
	clskdos.exe (DOS version)

        clsk.exe takes the following parameters:
       	Create archive:

	clsk /s [@]<filenames> [/c] [/d] [/n:<archivename>] [/t:<target>]

/s : Option for selecting mode "split file(s)".
<filenames> : File to be splitted. If you add a @ infront of the name,
the content of file 'filenames' is interpreted as a list of filenames
to split. If you give not the full path of the file, default is the active
	directory.
You can specify also more than one filename (separated by a space).
/c : Copies the program file on disk.
/d : Erases disks before creating archive.
/n:<archivename> : Name you can give an archive
(The archivename should not have spaces! If you want a name
with spaces put the whole parameter in quotes. example:
			parameter /n:, ... /d "/n:my archive name with spaces" ...)
	/t:<target> : Selection of target drive/path. Default is A:\.

	Examples:
The following call splits the file big.bmp to drive A:\, with copying the program
file and the name 'face' for the archive:

	clsk /s big.bmp /c /n:face /t:a:\

Following example would split the contents of list.txt to an archive (drive B:):

	clsk /s @list.txt /t:B:\

File 'list.txt' has the following entries:
	(One filename per row!):
		mountain.IMG
		House.TIF
		C:\picture\roof.gif

	Restore archive:
	clsk /k [<drive/path>] [/t:<target drive/path>] [/v]

/k : Option for selecting mode "kit files".
<drive/path> : Lookup dirve/path to search for an archive.
	/t:<target drive/path> : Drive/path to copy files
	to from archive.
/v : View only contents of archive. (name/size/set-#/number of files)

	Examples:
following call would only display the contents of an archive, which is found on
	drive b:\ :

	clsk /k B:\ /v

with the following call, the archive on drive b:\ would be restored to c:\temp :

	clsk /k B:\ /t:c:\temp

Messages are display in the form: ??? [Yes, No]
Press the uppercase letter to make your choice.
If the message is: !!! [Ok] you can press the 'enter' key or the 'o' key.
