Clearlook(tm) Word Processor from Sundial Systems
Release Notes (README.TXT) for Clearlook 1.71
    September 1996

Thank you for purchasing Clearlook for OS/2. This file contains information
which became available after the printed materials went to press.

Note that Clearlook 1.71 is a maintenance release of Clearlook 1.7. The
primary difference is that Clearlook 1.71 includes support for OS/2 Warp 4.

OS/2, Presentation Manager, and Workplace Shell Compatibility:

Clearlook is designed specifically for use with OS/2 Version 2, 3, or 4
and the Workplace Shell. This includes all of the following releases:

        OS/2 Warp 4
            "General Availability" release
        OS/2 Warp Server
            "General Availability" release
        OS/2 Warp Connect
"Red Box" (for use with Windows) release
            "Blue Box" (with Win-OS2) release
        OS/2 Warp (OS/2 Version 3)
"Red Box" (for use with Windows) release
            "Full Pack" (with Win-OS2) release
        OS/2 2.1 for Windows
            "General Availability" release
            "Service Pack" (CSD 6300) release
        OS/2 2.1
            "General Availability" release
            "Service Pack" (CSD 6200) release
            "Manufacturing Refresh" (2.11) release

Most "FixPak" levels of OS/2 Warp, Warp Connect, and Warp Server have also
    been tested.

    Installation Instructions

Clearlook is distributed on two disks. To install the software, just run
the INSTALL program found on the primary distribution disk (Disk 1) and
    follow the instructions which appear.

If you received Clearlook electronically, just run the INSTALL from the
directory in which you have the Clearlook files.

    User's Guide and Supplement

Clearlook 1.7 is packaged with printed copies of both the Clearlook 1.1
User's Guide and the Clearlook 1.7 User's Guide Supplement.

The complete set of Clearlook (CTX) files for both the User's Guide and the
Supplement are also included on the Clearlook distribution disks as zip
file archives. These zip files are not unzipped as part of the Clearlook
installation process since they are comparatively large (due to the size
of embedded screen capture pictures). If you choose to unzip the files,
allow 11.8 Mbytes for the User's Guide and 1.5 Mbytes for the Supplement.

A modified version of the supplement, without any pictures, is installed
in the Look directory as CL17.CTX.

Of Interest to Owners of Earlier Clearlook Versions

Clearlook 1.71 is functionally the same as Clearlook 1.7, but includes
changes for compatibility with OS/2 Warp 4 (formerly code-named Merlin).

As discussed in the Clearlook 1.7 User's Guide Supplement, some of the
Clearlook terminology has been changed in 1.7. In particular the term
"transform" has been replaced by "merge format." Only the name has
changed, the concept is still the same.

Within the Look folder on your desktop, this means that the "trnsfrms"
folder has been replaced by a "MrgFmts" folder. If you are installing
Clearlook 1.7 over an earlier version, you will end up with both
folders: "trnsfrms" will contain your old merge formats and "MrgFmts"
will contain the new ones provided with Clearlook 1.7. However, when
you use the new Tools Merge function (which replaces Tools Transform),
it will always look in the new "MrgFmts" folder rather than the old
    "trnsfrms" folder.

Thus, if you have created your own transforms for use with an earlier
version, you should copy them from the old "trnsfrms" folder into the
new "MrgFmts" folder. It is also recommended that you eventually remove
the "trnsfrms" folder in order to avoid future confusion.
