DOS Keyboard utilities for DOS, or DOS sessions running under OS/2.

This ZIP contains five tiny DOS programs which enable you
to set the keyboard lock modes. The five programs are
NL_ON.COM, NL_OFF.COM, CL_ON.COM, CL_OFF.COM, and NCS_OFF.COM

The NL_* versions turn NumLock ON and OFF, and the CL_*
programs do the same for CapsLock. The program NCS_OFF turns
all three locks (NumLock, CapsLock, and Scroll Lock) OFF.

To use these programs, just copy them to any convenient
directory (preferably one that is already in your PATH), and
type the appropriate command to modify the keyboard setting
(for instance, type NL_ON to turn NumLock ON).

You can use these programs to provide a default for your
computer by placing the command in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

OS/2 users can customize individual DOS sessions by placing
the desired command in the startup batch file for the DOS
session. (By default, this is AUTOEXEC.BAT, but this can be
modified in the DOS_SETTINGS for the DOS session.)

These programs (in particular NL_ON.EXE) are intended as a
compliment to Henry Thorpe's NLOCK_ON, which is freeware, and
an excellent program. Put NLOCK_ON in your OS/2 startup
folder, which will turn NumLock on when OS/2 boots.

The program NL_ON remedies the problem of OS/2 turning off
NumLock when a DOS session starts. Do NOT put NL_ON in your
startup folder (it won't work there). These five additional
programs are only for DOS sessions running under OS/2!

These programs are freeware, and may be freely distributed,
but may not be sold or copyrighted. I make no claim as to
authorship - I saw the method described in a magazine column
many years ago. In addition, I assume no liability for these
programs - I'm just passing them along, in the hope that others
may find them as useful as I did.

I omitted separate ON and OFF programs for ScrollLock because
virtually no programs bother using the ScrollLock feature.

Comments may be sent to Michael Kilby, FidoNet 1:109/347, or

Finally, I have also included an OS/2 icon file
(called NUMLOCK.ICO) for use on the OS/2 desktop.
