MegaTracker Plugin for X11Amp 0.9 beta 1.1
Version 1.0 --------------- April 25, 1999
------------------------------------------

MegaTracker Plugin (MTPlug) is a program which enables you to play most
SoundSmith, MegaTracker, and NoiseTracker GS (version 1.x only) songs from
the Apple IIgs on an appropriately equipped Linux-based computer, often
with higher quality than the real IIgs due to the GS's low (26 kHz) mix rate
and sharp 11 kHz lowpass filter compared with the 44.1 kHz CD-quality possible
on the PC. MTPlug is not a GS or 5503 emulator - it's a pretty normal
tracker-style player that happens to play SS/MT and NTGS format songs.

System Requirements
-------------------

- Pentium-class or faster Intel computer

- Linux kernel 2.0 or later with glibc 2.0.7 or later. Distributions
meeting this requirement include Redhat 5.2, SuSE 6.0, and Mandrake 5.3.
I believe Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 will also work.
Slackware (including 4.0) is NOT compliant - they're stuck on libc5.

- X11Amp 0.9 beta 1.1 or later (April 24, 1999 CVS is the latest tested) from
  http://www.x11amp.bz.nu/

How To Use It
-------------

After unpacking MTPlug, copy the 2 files libmtp.so and libmtp.la to your
X11Amp installation's Input plugins directory. By default this is
/usr/local/lib/x11amp/Input.

Run X11Amp as usual. Select a SoundSmith/MT song (you'll want to rename
them to .MTP for easier selection). Play as usual.

If you do not have any SoundSmith/MegaTracker or NTGS 1.x songs, I have some
available for download at http://www.iag.net/~irsman/warez.html

New and Exciting
----------------

- First X11Amp public release. Source version coming as soon as I
rewrite the player to be less embarassing (which may take a while).

Known Problems To Be Fixed
--------------------------

- Time estimation is a bit broken (some songs end properly, some go too long,
some don't go as long as the estimate claims).

- Seeking doesn't work.

- Click removal for the mixer would be nice.

- Need to get a config dialog going and add multiple mix rates (inc. 48 kHz
  for ultimate kick-the-GS's-grainy-sounding-butt quality).

Special Thanks
--------------

The X11Amp guys for making a kickass music player for Linux.
