If you have the unregistered version, skip this part and go to
"FAT16.DAT" and FAT32.DAT".

Registered Version Note: Starting Cluster Number Display, etc.:

This number allows you to locate quickly the beginning of the highlighted
clusters in the "map" for the file you specify. Simply note the starting
cluster number, example: "162,758", and look for (left side) "00162752" which
will be the beginning of the line that holds the start of highlighted clusters
(very noticeable). Note: File cluster "chains" always "run" forward.

It is common to see a file's cluster "chain" not running continuous (split
up). The end of the file's "chain" is indicated by a highlighted "E". Note:
Small files, at or less than the cluster size (example: 8,192 bytes) will
not have a "chain", since only one cluster is used. Therefore, only one
character ("E") will be highlighted.

  "FAT16.DAT" and "FAT32.DAT":

"FAT16.DAT" and "FAT32.DAT" files are copies of the FAT16 and FAT32 via
"Sector Access". "FAT16.DAT" is from a 286 PC and "FAT32.DAT" is from a Win95
PC.

One or more clusters are "Bad" (I edited) so you can see what a bad cluster
looks like using "Fat Map". Use the "View a FAT16(32) file...." function.
Also, try out the new 'seek "B"' (press "B") feature.

  "FAT32.DAT" FILE:

When you use "Sector Access" to save the FAT to a file/s, it should always
be saved to another drive or floppy disk/s. A FAT32 10G partition requires
four 1.4M floppies. If the FAT(32) was saved to floppies, to convert the
parts into a single file, simply copy the parts from all the floppy disks on
to the HD (hard disk). Next, use the command:
"COPY/B FAT-BU.001+FAT-BU.002+.... FAT.DAT". "FAT.DAT" will contain the
combined FAT parts.

  REGISTERED VS UNREGISTERED VERSION:

The "unregistered" version goes through the same "motions" as does the
registered version with regards to seeing a specified file's clusters in the
"map", but the unregistered version will not highlight. Also, the registered
version, when you save a "map" to a file after you highlight a file's
clusters, will change those cluster characters into lower case to make them
noticeable in the text file. Note: Highlighted characters can't be saved to a
text file.
