Rapid Deployment Pack - Linux Edition
File: readme.txt

This readme.txt file and adjoining Red Hat Kickstart files support
the Rapid Deployment Pack - Linux Edition Evaluation Guide.

A Kickstart file is used to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 (AS or ES)
on a ProLiant server that will be used as a Deployment Server for Linux.
This kickstart file provides the proper Linux setup as defined in the RDP-LE
Installation Guide and RDP-LE Evaluation Guide.

Refer to the RDP-LE Support Matrix for the supported Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 2.1 update.

1) Pick the appropriate kickstart file for your system:

For ProLiants servers with ATA boot drives, use ks-ata.cfg.

For ProLiants servers with Array or SCSI controllers, use ks.cfg.

2) Copy the appropriate kickstart file to the root of a floppy disk and save it as
filename, ks.cfg. The floppy disk may be formatted with Windows (FAT) or
Linux (ext2/ext3/vfat) file system.

NOTE: Do not edit the kickstart files using Windows Notepad, as this places
Windows style newlines (CR, LF) in the file, which confuses the Red Hat setup
program.

3) Boot RHEL 2.1 CD #1 and type "linux ks=floppy" at the boot: prompt on the text
boot screen. Caution: The screen has a timeout that forces a boot to graphical
setup. If the text boot prompt has timed out, then reboot the server with the
floppy disk removed to try again. Re-insert the floppy disk after the server boots
so the Linux setup can read the Kickstart file.
