------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Known Issues:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Issue: Setting port path cost = 0 is defined to assign the default path
cost for that port, instead it sets path cost to 1.

Suggestion: Manually set port cost to the desired value instead of using
the 0 option.

Issue: With some devices, when a GbE2 Interconnect Switch port is set to 100
Mbps speed with half-duplex (either with auto-negotiation on or auto-
negotiation off), link will never be established.

Suggestion: Do not set port speed to 100 half.

Issue: In the browser-based interface (BBI), the REVERT command on the main
banner does not work.

Suggestion: Use the REVERT button on the CONFIGURE mode screen or the GENERAL
screen instead. You can also use REVERT from the Command Line Interface
(CLI).

Issue: Certain HP MIB variables are not instantiated by the switch agent.
This results in IM7 not being able to identify a GbE2 Interconnect switch in
the rack view.

Suggestion: N/A

Issue: The GbE2 Interconnect Switch does not update rack location after a
soft reset.

Suggestion: Either ignore invalid rack location or hard reset the GbE2
Interconnect Switch to update a new rack location.

Issue: The GbE2 Interconnect Switch does not save a Telnet port value other
than the default value (23).

Suggestion: Since the GbE2 Interconnect Switch looses a changed Telnet port
value setting and defaults to 23 after reset, reconfigure the Telnet port
value again.

Issue: A MMU soft reset error message displays when running broadcast and
multicast traffic. The following messages display on the CLI console via
serial port.
[_interrupt_thread]UNIT 0 SCHAN ERROR: V=1 SRC=13 DST=15
OPCODE=20(MEM_FAIL_NOTIFY) ERRCODE=66
[_interrupt_thread]UNIT 0 SCHAN ERROR: MMU soft reset
[_interrupt_thread]UNIT 2 SCHAN ERROR: V=1 SRC=13 DST=15
OPCODE=20(MEM_FAIL_NOTIFY) ERRCODE=66
[_interrupt_thread]UNIT 2 SCHAN ERROR: MMU soft reset

Suggestion: Ignore these messages as they have no side effects.

Issue: When directly connected to the GbE2 Interconnect Switch front panel
DB9 (console) port, the session will not timeout.

Suggestion: Exit from console when not in use.

Issue: When a Telnet connection is made from the GbE2 Interconnect Switch
CLI to another device, characters are echoed making password fields visible.

Suggestion: If it is a security risk do not make a Telnet connection from
the GbE2 Interconnect Switch.

Issue: If one switch is rebooted out of the pair in a blade enclosure, the
other switch might report auto-negotiation errors on the console for ports
not connected between these paired switches, even though there is no real
problem.

Suggestion: Ignore these messages as erroneous.

Issue: Jumbo frames are forwarded correctly, but the statistics on the ports
show them as 'oversized' frame errors.

Suggestion: The GbE2 Interconnect Switch firmware is counting Jumbo Frames
as "oversized" frames and incrementing the Error counter. Ignore this counter
when Jumbo Frames are used.

Issue: The Browser Based Interface (BBI) does not offer support for all GbE2
Interconnect Switch configuration settings and statistics monitoring.

Suggestion: The preferred interface is the Command Line Interface (CLI).

Issue: Initiating a gtimg (firmware download) command from a Telnet session
can result in a switch panic, which displays the message PANIC at
mpmain.c:1031 in thread 6" on the console. The GbE2 Interconnect Switch will
automatically reboot.

Suggestion: Initiate all firmware download commands from the console.

Issue: Network links for servers running Linux occasionally will not
establish link.

Suggestion: Reload the NIC drivers on the Linux Blade server to get link to
come up or reboot the server. Refer to www.compaq.com/support for additional
information.

Issue: The SAN mismatch LED does not correctly identify mismatched SAN
hardware.

Suggestion: Ignore the SAN mismatch LED.

Issue: Initiating a secure copy of the configuration file
(scp <local_filename><switch IP addr>:putcfg_apply_save) from an external
host server, the BOOTP assigned IP setting will be lost on the GbE2
Interconnect Switch.

Suggestion: Do not use the scp command to transfer a configuration file
to the switch. If this happens, disable and enable BOOTP to reestablish
the IP settings.

Issue: Load distribution for multicast traffic is not supported over
multi-link port trunks. For broadcast and multicast traffic, the lowest
port number in the trunk group is elected to be the forwarding port for
forwarding traffic.

Suggestion: No action is needed.

Issue: Load distribution information for IP and non-IP traffic over
multi-link port trunks is documented incorrectly in HP ProLiant BL
p-Class GbE2 Interconnect Switch User Guide and the HP ProLiant BL
p-Class GbE2 Interconnect Switch Application Guide.

- IP traffic on a trunk is forwarded on the port matching modulus
(last_3_bits_of_Source_IP_address XOR last_3_bits_of_Destination
_IP_address).

- Non-IP traffic on a trunk is forwarded on the port matching modulus
(last_3_bits_of_Source_MAC_address XOR last_3_bits_of_Destination
_MAC_address).

Issue: Pings to a non-existing host IP address from the GbE2 Interconnect
Switch CLI interface result in no response for random periods of time.

Suggestion: Wait a short while for response to resume.

Issue: The BBI REVERT option fails to correctly undo VLAN creation.

Suggestion: Use the CLI to create VLANs.

Issue: CPU utilization is incorrect.

Suggestion: Ignore the reported CPU utilization.

Issue: TFTP boot image downloads may fail on slower connections such as a
4kB/sec (32+ kb/sec) connection.

Suggestion: Use a high speed Ethernet connection.

Issue: The BBI does not time out after inactivity.

Suggestion: Logout when you are finished with the BBI.

Issue: Broadcast/Multicast Small/Oversized/Jumbo frames are incorrectly
identified as Unicast in the statistics.

Suggestion: Ignore these statistics.

Issue: As the IM7 integration script (GbE_to_IM7.bat in the Windows
Management Utilities Smart Component for the switch) exits, it prints
an advisory message to restart IM7. If the script is started from
Windows(R) Explorer, the window may disappear too quickly for the message
to be read when the script concludes.

Suggestion: Run the script from a (DOS) command prompt so the window
does not disappear when the script concludes.
