SP14366.exe:
-Provides the Caldera OpenLinux eServer bootable
diskette to enable installation of the operating
system and the setting of the linear option in
lilo.conf. This customized installation is
required for the operating system to run on the
ProLiant 320 platform, ATA Model only.

Date Originated:
   November 7, 2000

Product(s) Affected:
   ProLiant 320, ATA Model only

Operating System(s)
   Caldera OpenLinux eServer 2.3.1

How to apply this upgrade:
      1) Copy the boot image onto a diskette using the following
	 command:

		dd if=caldera_boot.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=18k

(/dev/fd0 should be the floppy drive on the system).

      2) Insert the diskette created in step 1.

      3) Boot the ProLiant 320. Follow the on-screen instructions.

      4) Insert the Caldera OpenLinux eServer installation CD-ROM.
	 Follow the normal installation procedure
	 (see http://www.compaq.com/products/servers/linux/compaq-howto.html
for additional information) and click the Finish button. The
server will reboot into the kernel just installed.

      5) Make sure that LILO is using linear mode. Edit /etc/lilo.conf. Look
for the keyword "linear" in the top section. If it is not present -
put linear on its own line in the top section of /etc/lilo.conf. Save
the /etc/lilo.conf file to disk and type the command /sbin/lilo.
	 Reboot the server.

      6) If the linear option is not immediately set, the boot diskette
may be used to boot into the previously installed kernel (follow
	 the on-screen instructions).
