2. miroCONNECT P1

2.1 Installing miroCONNECT P1 hardware

Install the miroCONNECT P1 as described in the manual. Configure the
Port of the miroCONNECT P1 on a free IO-address and a free
interrupt (see manual). You may install up to 4 miroCONNECT P1 in
one Windows NT computer.
If possible, try the miroCONNECT P1 with DOS first. Try the CAPI
(with p1copy, see manual). If ok, proceed to Windows NT.

2.2 Installing P1WMAC

Install RAS and your LAN protocols before you install the
miroCONNECT P1 NDIS driver. Choose a port like COM2 for RAS
installation.

The driver is to be installed with the "Control Panel". Start
"Network" and "Add Adapter..". Now you get a list of the
available adaptors. Select "Disk..." to force the
system to load the files from the floppy onto the harddisk.
Select "miro P1 ISDN Adapter". Select the IO-Port address,
the interrupt number, D-channel protocol and MSN/EAZ.

After that, please change to "Network Software", choose
"Remote Access Service" and call "Configure..". Add the P1WMAC
to the list of devices and delete other devices, if not used.
Afterwards close "Network Settings" and restart Windows NT.
To use both B-channels simultaneously please install P1WMAC
twice (i.e. P1WMAC1 and P1WMAC2).

If you install more then one miro P1 you have to install one
RAS port for each B-channel. You have to edit the registry
manually by incrementing the capiControllerNumber in

H_KEY-LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CURRENTCONTROLSET/SERVICES/
    P1WMAC<AdapterNumber>/Parameters

      capiControllerNumber = 1

Standard value is 1. For second board you should enter 2 and
so on. To edit the registry you should use REGED32.EXE which
is part of the Microsoft Windows NT package but not installed
automatically. So please install it.

Additional installation informations:

2.2.1 IO-Port address

miroCONNECT P1 can be installed at four different IO-Base addresses
of the ISA bus. The default address is 260H. Change this
address only if a conflict with other boards occurs.

2.2.2 Interrupt number

miroCONNECT P1 can use different interrupt levels on the ISA bus. The
default interrupt is 12. Check miroCONNCET P1 for the correct
interrupt setting before installing and make sure you choose
the same one in the menu.

2.2.3 D-channel protocol

There are many different D-channel protocols in use in the ISDN.

2.2.3.1 Public ISDN, 1TR6

The 1TR6 protocol is the older German national protocol.

2.2.3.2 Public ISDN, DSS1

The DSS1 protocol is the common European protocol. Most of the
new ISDN-interfaces in Germany support DSS1. Other countries
supporting DSS1 are: Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway,
The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria
and many others. The data transfer service of the ISDN
interface has to be configured in the switch or the PABX.

2.2.3.3 Private switches (PABX)

PABXs use different protocols, including 1TR6, DSS1, DKZE and
proprietary protocols. If in doubt, consult the vendor. The
data transfer service of the ISDN interface has to be
configured in the switch or the PABX.

2.2.3.4 Festverbindungen S01, S02, 64S (leased line)

If you use a ISDN Festverbindung (leased line), select the
appropriate line type.

2.2.3.5 Point-to-point (PTP)

ISDN supports a Point-to-Point variant of the S0-interface.
This is mainly used to connect PABXs to ISDN. If you use
the S0-interface in point-to-point mode, select this entry.

2.2.4 Endgeraeteauswahlziffer (EAZ)/
        Multiple Subscriber Number (MSN)

You can distinguish different ISDN terminals by a different
EAZ (1TR6) or MSN (DSS1). With this parameter you select a
specific EAZ/MSN for the miroCONNECT P1 card.

EAZ:
If you use 1TR6, the EAZ is an additional digit added to
your phone number. It can be any number from 1 to 8. If you
want to connect to the miroCONNECT P1, the caller has to dial
either the EAZ you have selected or the -0, which addresses
all terminals regardless of their EAZ. In this case the call
is connected to the terminal that reacts first.

MSN:
If your protocol is DSS1, you usually get different MSNs
which normally differ only in the last digit. That depends on
the software in the public/private switch.

The number called by the client consists of the prefix and
the local number. The public switch generates the protocol
element Destination Address (DAD) which is the local number
or a part of it. It may also be omitted. The called
NT-server compares the last digit of the DAD with the MSN
programmed and decides whether to accept the call or not.
You can select this digit with the EAZ/MSN menu.

If you do not get a connection then you should set the
EAZ/MSN to wildcard to accept all incoming calls regardless
of the DAD.

In this case outgoing calls will be made with an
Origination Address EAZ/MSN value of 0.

2.3 Running P1WMAC

After you have restarted your computer, you can start
"RAS" from the "RAS" program group and add an entry
into the telephone directory. Select the P1WMAC at the
"Port" pull down. If it is not existing, maybe you did
not configure the RAS port for dialling out.

If ok, close the "Add" window and dial. If you get a
connection, a red LED on the miroCONNECT P1 appears. You can get
connections to most data terminals on ISDN, but to get any
data transfer it has to support the PPP protocol in a
Windows NT compatible way. If you call a Windows NT RAS
Server, you will be prompted by "Verifying user name and
password" if the connection is established.

If the connection fails, check the eventlog. You will find
an entry with the ISDN cause.
If the logon process does not suceed, check the following
settings on the RAS server and client:
- user accounts
- domain trustees
- network protocols
- security settings, type of password encryption

To check the status of the NDIS driver call "Control Panel"
"Devices" at the entry "miro P1 ISDN driver". It has to be
started.

To check the status of the RAS server process choose
"RAS Administration" from the RAS window. To be able to
handle incoming calls RAS has to be started. If you double-
click the bar, you get additional status information on the
ports.

2.4 Performance Monitor

You can permanently monitor the activities of the
miroCONNECT P1 by starting the performance monitor from the
"Administrative Tools" window. "Add to chart.." the object
"RAS Port". You can select the transmitted and received
Bytes/s and choose "Done". Then you should adjust the scale
by calling "Chart Options.." and setting the vertical
maximum to 8000.

3. CAPI - Support

3.1 General

Supported CAPI versions
CAPI 2.0 is supported by CAPI2032.DLL
CAPI 1.1 is supported by CAPI32.DLL

No 16 Bit Applications are supported by CAPI****.DLL

For programing details please refer to the CAPI 2.0/1.1
specification.

We suggest to use CAPI 2.0 which is based on DSS1. It will
replace CAPI V1.1 which was designed for the German national ISDN.

3.2 Installation

- Before installing the CAPI-Interface you have to install NDIS-
Interface. Now you can install the CAPI-Interface from the CAPI floppy
by choosing "Control" Group further "Network",
  "Software" and "New".

4. Troubleshooting

- Hardware does not react:
check ISDN-board under DOS if possible, check board address
  switches and interrupt jumper.

- Driver not loaded
If the driver is not loaded at restart of the computer, check
the Event Viewer and save it in a file.

- P1WMAC entry does not exist in RAS port list
During installation, it may happen that the entry P1WMAC does
not exist in the window "Network Software", "Remote Access
Service". In this case please deinstall the ISDN-Adapter and
  repeat the complete installation.

- RAS Error 640, invalid TAPI configuration:
Remove miro P1 ISDN adapter from "Network Settings",
remove P1WMAC from "RAS Configuration" under "Network
Settings" and restart the PC. Afterwards install the
"miro P1 ISDN adapter" again and configure RAS to it.

- RAS Error 651:
The partner you have called does not react. Check the number
you have dialed. Check if the computer you have called is
running and the line is not busy. Check if the RAS of the
computer you are calling is configured as server (not client
  only).

- No user responding 0x34BA (Event Log)
The number settings are not correct. You call another ISDN
line, but there is no data terminal responding. The reasons
  can be:
  - the number you call does not address the ISDN bus your
NT-Server is connected to. If the calling client is
connected to a PBX you have to dial a prefix to
    access the public ISDN.
  - the MSN you have programmed in the called NT server is
different from the number which is transmitted with the
call in the DAD from the public/private switch
(see 2.2.4). Set EAZ/MSN to wildcard to accept all incoming
    calls.

- You cannot be called
There is no way to check your own ISDN number by yourself
without any doubt. Make sure that you configured RAS as
  server (not client only).
