Q-Motion PCI NT Beta Driver 10/10/96

1.) Remarks on jerky playback.

Without DMA playback mode, it may not be possible to reach the
maximum data rate for playback.

To switch on DMA mode, change the registry entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Q55PDRV\Parameters\QuadPCI DRV\PlaybackDMA = 2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Q55PDRV\Parameters\QuadPCI DRV\PlaybackBurst = 1

This may not work on triton machines.

If playback is still jerky, the reason might be that there is not
enough continuous memory available on your machine for the
playback buffers.

If this is so there will be an entry for it in your EventLog.

To change the number of bytes available as continuous memory,
change the registry entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManager\NonPagedPoolSize

to the number of bytes you want to donate as continuous memory.
This number should be at least one megabyte. Be carefull with this
value, if it is in an ivalid region, the system might not be able
to boot.

2.) Bugs with ULead Media Studio PRO 2.5

When capturing on a DUAL PENTIUM machine, the capture application
switches the temporal reference of two buffers e.g.

...0123546789...
       \--- swapped

This seems to be a BUG in the capture application, as it does
not appear with VidCap32, and the driver always returns the
buffers in the correct sequence and the correct timestamps.

3.) Notes on installation

If you had a Q-Motion NT driver installed before, you
have to take special care when reinstalling. The correct
sequence is:

- Open the multimedia control, and remove the previous driver.
- Stop the Q-Motion driver using the Devices applet.
- Install the new driver with the multimedia control.
