// Driver for the CTT8000-S SCSI TR4 tape drive
//
//-----------------------------------------------------------------//
//
// To install the device driver that supports the CTT8000-S
//  (Falcon2) you must:
//
// I) Create a new installable driver diskette.
//
// II) Install the new driver on your system.
//
// NOTE: If you received an installable driver diskette
	   go to step II of this procedure. If you downloaded
	   the file CTT8000S.EXE from the Seagate web site
	   or BBS you will need to complete both steps I and II.
	   Please follow the instructions exactly.
//-----------------------------------------------------------------//

I) Make the new driver install diskette:

       NOTE: The following procedure will assume the file
	      CTT8000S.EXE is the only file on a diskette in
	      the A: drive, on a PC running NT 3.51. Before
	      proceeding, put the file CTT8000S.EXE on a
	      diskette and put the diskette in the A: drive
	      on your NT system.

       1) Go into the 'Main' program group and double-click
	    on the 'MS-DOS Prompt' icon.

       2) At the DOS prompt, change to the A: drive and type:

		     CTT8000S

	    and press <Enter>.

       3) Again from the A: prompt type:

		     CTT8S -d

	    and press <Enter>. The -d is NECESSARY in order
	    to preserve the directory tree.

   This will create an installable NT driver diskette with the
   following directory structure and files.

	 A:\ctt8000s.exe
	 A:\ctt8s.exe
	 A:\readme.txt
	 A:\disk1
	 A:\oemsetup.inf
	 A:\i386\ctt8000s.sys

II)  Install the CTT8000S driver:

       1) Go to the 'Main' program group.

       2) Double click on the 'Windows NT Setup' icon.

       3)   Go into 'Options'.

       4) Go into 'Add/Remove Tape Devices'.

       5) Now choose 'Add'. Make sure that the driver diskette
	    is in the A: drive.

       6) Arrow down and choose 'Other (Requires a disk from a
	    hardware manufacture)'.

       7)   Click on 'OK'.

       8) It will now show 'Seagate CTT8000S Tape Driver'.
	    Click on 'OK'.

       9)   Now click 'Install'.

       10)  Click on 'Continue'.

       11)  Click on 'Close'.

       12) Exit the Windows NT Setup. Click on 'OK' when the
	    message appears warning you to reboot your system.

       13) Now shudown and restart the system.

The new driver is now in place and ready to go. Write protect the
diskette, as it can be used to install the driver on other PC's.

//   IMPORTANT TECH NOTES:
//
// 1) The Windows NT native backup applet has an eject option
// that will cause the CTT8000-S (SCSI TR4) drive to go
// offline when executed. If this happens the tape
// cartridge must be removed, then reinserted to bring
// the tape and drive back online.
//
// 2) The CTT8000 tape drive is capable of reading tapes
// written by floppy tape drives (Often referred to as MFM
// tapes). The software must support the QIC-172 protocol
// in order to provide this capability. The Backup applet
// in Windows NT 3.51 does not support this feature of
//       the CTT8000 drive.
