//rGun\\    ***********************************************************

Hello World ! (seen that before:)
-------------

I've got no time to write a big DOC for such a small (lame?) proggy.
(However, it may be long awaited from lotsa guys...)

You got -MY- own code in Pascal7... Hope you'll understand. :)
It was not bugfixed, nor optimized.
In fact, I stopped this program when I finally got the 1024KB sample of
AWE's ROM. Hope this was not a miracle ! :)

TO USE THIS THING.
------------------
1) Your AWE must be at $220.
2) Just type the file name ; for example "C:\WATYAWAN"
(file will be saved as c:\WATYAWAN.RAW)

Note for lamers : of course type ANY file name at this prompt.
                      Huh ?? ANYFILENAME.RAW ? But... That can't be? :) :) :)

3) Yep ! You should now have a 44Khz, 16Bit, RAW sample of about 1Mb.
Edit this one with WaveStudio or whatever you want.

NOTE :
------
This program may have some BUGs.
Reasons :
- Well known -lack of docs-.
- I mostly "translate" the code from Cygnus X-1 (C++) into Turbo Pascal for my
personnal (funny) experiments on the AWE processor (E8000).
But: to be honnest : I DO NOT UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING ! :)
- Cygnus doesn't write -enough- comment about the VALUES he sends.
Probably he had to hack some driver. However, BIG THANXX to Cygnus X-1 for
RELEASING his AWE-CODE ! WE NEED GUYS LIKE YOU !
To every AWE supporting DUDE : PLEASE DO THE SAME !!!
  You're NOT a black hole, Cygnus ! ;)

Note about the dump.
1) AWE gotcha lot of LFOs and envelopes (Volume, pitch, filter...), so the
sound that you are dumping is NOT a finished product like a GUS patch.
However : it was IMPOSSIBLE to access (especially write on disk) those ROM
samples before, so you should be glad for now. You can now -modify- ROM
sample to create your own instruments, and Samples are INTACT (no noise).
2) As you may see, there is some text in the header (first bytes of ROM)
but bytes are swapped to be compatible with .RAW format.
For the ones who are curious, I saved this text in the RIGHT (ascii) order
in the file REVERSE.ROM. Please note the (c) !

CONTACTS : Call a BBS like : +32/2/245-34-98 , and send mail for CEDRIC AMAND

If someone gotcha ANY "AWE32" code, p-l-e-a-s-e send it to me.
We can exchange. We must progress in the knowledge of AWE features.
I'm also interested on DOCs about ASP/CSP chip. Same remark.

GREETINGZ GO TO : Gene Roddenberry & TFL/TDV Brochette.
***************** Special thanx to Type One. He is now looking for someone
to exchange his old "GUS" for an impressive AWE32. ;)
(Hey : JOKE ! Send no mail about it :) :)
NOTE :
******
I made another usefull release for AWE/SB16, it is a program that is
able to replace the SB16SET mixer from Creative. (Every SB user uses that
program AT LEAST because of the "SB16SET /P /Q" line in his autoexec.BAT)
My program is M-U-C-H faster for that matter (loaded in 1/4 a second instead
of 2 secs) and can Save/Edit/Load/QuickLoad up to 6 different CONFIGs.
It has also more controls (24) + some undocumented ones, and every control is
at maximum range (32 levels each), instead of 20 levels when using the SB16SET
 Etc... Etc... And of course : FREE ! See it by yourself ;
DOWNLOAD "MASTMIX?.ZIP" where you get this stuff. (? is the version)
