                             Editorial

The following text describes the Flemish and Walloon demoscene in a
birdflight. This implies that not every group is covered, not all
memberlists are up to date etc. It carries the sole purpose to
inform you about 'known' groups. Groups or members are not left out
on purpose. In case you feel you should be in this list, contact
us.

This text appeared in Purple's 'CONTRAST' disk-mag, which is not a
Belgian release. Therefore, some notes on Flanders etc. appear.

The Flemish Scene at the End of 1994
ͼ

For those who don't know Flanders, Flanders is the upper part of
Belgium were people talk Dutch, French, German & English. Some also
talk, C, Asm or Pascal.

Lots of things changed since somebody else wrote a similar report,
but some things stayed the same.

You might already have read that some groups really are there from
the early beginning of 1992 (Jeez long time ago huh..) One of the
First groups was 'Coders In Action'. Their first intro has been
released around Assembly '92. Nothing special, but it was one of
the first. Afterwards they got some new members...

                        The Flemish Scene.

 - Purple Zebra : Main Coder (see "Simmzone")
 - Emperor : Coder
 - Airborne : Coder, Gfx
 - Black HellCat Jr : Coder
 - Mhoram : Main Music Artist (new!)
 - Fatal Black : Gfx
 - Airmax : Gfx
 - 2 New Music Artists & 1 New 3DS artist coming up

I'm not going to write the full list of releases so far but as we
heard from somebody from Void yesterday it seems they made their
best Party Entry at the Bizarre '94 competition in Nijmegen/Holland
last year.

$PA/$PC
 - Binary Slave : Coding
 - Hall9000 : Coding
 - Lotek : Coding
 - B-Art : Gfx
 - Wolfje : 3DS (2nd place wired)
 - Hardcore Devil : Swapping
 - Yammy : Cordinator
 - Eks Saint : Gfx
The Best Belgian group at the Moment... scored a top 20 at the
Assembly 1994 Demo Competition and a top 3 at the Wired Intro compo.

Traxx (The best Music crew ...)
 - BLuE ADoNiS : TRAXX LeadeR
 - The UNDeRTaKeR - DEiMoN - DaRK HeLMeT - MaraL - IncH - Model 3000 -
   CyborG - The ThunderBoLT - AtX - BlaZe RunneR - Mc.KRiSS -
   ScreamageR - MonoTonE : Composers
 - ExotiC and SpideR : TRAXX CourieRS
Black Design recently joined PHUN/TRAXX and they are now also
starting to code.

HypernovA
 - Tasmaniac : Coding, Sysop, Gfx, Music (1st place surpr. compo Wired)
 - Herr Cichlid : Gfx , Organising, PR (logo's for various groups)
 - Zeus: Recently joined as coder (former Semtex)

 - Saltarello : Coding , Ray Tracing ( " " Wired Movie-compo)
 - Sajca : Gfx
 - Evil Batman : Coding
 - Hydran : 3DS	(new member)
Als a real big crew... scored really high on Wired, about the only
thing they didn't win was the Demo Compo.

Imagine
 - Spiritual Steven : Coding (1st place Demo-compo wired)
 - Antonionize : Music
 - Antonio Roffo : Music
Imagine is the original inventive crew that is not so good in coding
but has some good ideas about funny demos, you may call them the
Belgian Twilight Zone.

Zion
 - Uncle Bob : Main Coder / PR
 - Balex-T : Gfx
This is a really young and talented crew. Uncle Bob is so active
that he is possibly going to follow my example in his school
carreer.. (Don't, there's nothing funny about doing the 5th grade
twice..)

Synergy Design (The crew that is NOT dead)
 - Karel Deman : Coding (Retard Ed)
 - Tom Verbeure : Coding
 - Freek : GFX & Coding
 - Patryk Wezowsky : Music (Shark)
 - Wim De Boever : Rendering
Synergy Design became famous with the First Real Belgian Demo, but
we had seen it al before... (except one thing..) it was a "DejaVu".

A.P.E.X.
 - Dirk Vinkx : Main Coder
Released 2 demos a couple of years ago and now he is coming back to
live. He is looking for some new group members to join his group

The Flinstones
 - Bone Ripper (also Known as Source Ripper)
Actually this group hasn't released anything serious except some
Music Disks (about 11 i suppose...)

Access Denied
 - Lord Cyrix : Sysop (sysop pointbreak)
 - Venior : None
 - Jumping Jack Flash : Trader
Possibly the Oldest and longest non-active group in Belgium. They
still exist but they are not releasing anything except their Scenial
Mag (2 years too late..). That's why I don't know what the
occupation of all their members is.

And some not known new talents.
Including Byron and his friends...really nice routines but no
releases so far.

Ŀ
A small part about the Walloon part of Belgium (the lower part).

The Flamoots : The best Belgian Walloon group. So far they released
a greaaat demo at Wired'94, but unfortunately they only became
second (after Necronomicon from Imagine). You really should check
out their Contrast (with source).

Subnormals : Released a brilliant Party Report about Wired'94.

Outlaws : More active on Amiga than on PC so far but they are
growing.

Antares : Released some small but nice intros. They were one of the
organising groups of Wired'94.

Imphobia/Cascada:
Possibly the best know group in Belgium, because of their Diskmag :
"Imphobia",
Best known member : Darkness

All the groups that are not listed here or are not listed completely
should blame theirselves they either didn't release anything big
enought to be spread, have not been to any party yet, or just don't
exist yet.

The last couple of months the scene is coming closer and closer
together due to the work of some sysops. Including Tasmaniac, Pom,
Neon, Mikee Mouse, Blue Adonis, and myselve.
