Computer Art Festival will take place the 29th and 30th April
in Nizhny Novgorod (Russia).  The rules,  detailed  info  and 
Dihalt'2005  archive is available. We will glad to see you at
DiHalt'2006.  Visit our forum and stay tuned!



General Competition Rules

- You can participate in competitions with works created for PC,
Amiga/Pegasos and ZX-Spectrum.
- Previously released material is not allowed.
- Copyrighted material can only be used with authors permission.
- Each work must have a representative, determined by the author
and present at the party, who will receive the prizes if the
work will win a prize. In other case the author of the work will
receive only the diploma by mail.
- There will be preselection of all works and they can be
disqualified for reasons such as poor quality, infringements of
the legislation and/or ethics, etc. Preselection will be made by
organizers of the party with an invited jury.
- Winners will be awarded. The prize fund will depend on
quantity of visitors and sponsors.
- All works submitted in competitions can be distributed by
organizers of the party without additional coordination with
authors, including on WWW/FTP/CD/DVD.
- Organizers reserve the right to reduce or increase the number
of shown works in any competition, depending on the quality or
the level of works.
- Competitions can be combined if there are only few works in a
particular competition.


Compo machines
We can provide the following compo machines:
PC: Intel P4/3.2GHz, 1.5Gb RAM, GeForce 6600GT, Windows XP.
Amiga: A1200, 68060/50Mhz, 64Mb RAM, AmigaOS 3.1.
Pegasos: Pegasos II, G4/1GHz, 256MB RAM, Radeon9000, MorphOS
1.4.5 & 3D-update.
ZX-Spectrum: Pentagon128k without additional expansions.


Definition of winners
The winner of each competition will be determined by the results
of voting by all present in the hall.


Registration and reception of works
Registration of works and participants (who would like to
introduce works in competitions) is obligatory.
Reception and registration of works will be completed for 2 days
prior to the beginning of demoparty - in the evening on April,
26. Most likely the reception of works will go on also after the
deadline (probably directly at the party), but it is NOT
GUARANTEED.
Works for Wild/Animation (CD / DVD) can be accepted directly at
the party.
Registration and uploading of works is done by e-mail:
dihalt@flatrate.ru. If you have not received confirmation of the
registration of your work in three days, contact the organizers.
Don't forget to include in the archive a file_id.diz file, which

Demo competitions
* 4k Intro
- Filesize limit: 4kb uncompressed.
- Runtime limit: 3 minutes.
- Maximum entries: 10.

* 64k Intro
- Filesize limit: 64kb uncompressed.
- Runtime limit: 5 minutes.
- Maximum entries: 10.

* 16mb Demo
- Filesize limit: 16MB archived (zip, rar, lha, lzx) including
all files (readme, etc...).
- Runtime limit: 10 minutes.
- Works containing only an animation+player are prohibited.

General:
- You can use hardware acceleration (DirectX9, OpenGL).
- Exit by pressing LMB/RMB (Amiga), Esc (PC).
- Maximum 2 entries by each author in any compo.


Graphics competitions
* Gfx Rendered
- Graphics created in 3d-tools (Lightwave, 3DMax, Cinema, etc).
- Files in archive must be named as:
name_xxx.jpg - phases of your work
name_wire.jpg - wireframe version
name_unsig.jpg - unsigned version
name_sig.jpg - signed version

* Gfx Handdrawn
- Handmade pictures drawn on a computer. If you've used paper
sketches in your work, it is desirable to give them to the
preselect team.

* Gfx Freestyle
- Combined pictures made in different ways (Photoshop
processing, 3d-render, photo, collage, handmade drawing, etc)

* Gfx Ascii
- Use of ANSI colors is allowed.
- ACID will be used to show items.

General:
- All works will be scaled to 800x600x24 (ASCII - 80x60).
- All graphics works should have a minimum of 3 intermediate
phases in archive.
- Only original works by the author are accepted. Scans and
other copies are not accepted.
- List of allowed formats: JPEG, TIFF, GIF, IFF, PNG, HAM.
- The logo of the author/group will be covered by a black square
if you haven't included an unsigned version of your work.
- Images with porn elements are not accepted.
- Maximum 2 entries by each author and 3 entries by each group
in any compo.
- Maximum 20 entries in any compo.


Music competitions
* Multichannel Traditional Music
- Music in the following styles: pop, blues, pop-jazz, rock-
ballad, new age, retro, classics, demoscene-oldschool, etc.
- Filesize limit: 4mb.
- Channels limit: 64.

* Multichannel Alternative Music
- Music in the following styles: trance, hardcore, jungle, dj-s,
etc, also heavy/trash/death metal, etc.
- Filesize limit: 4mb.
- Channels limit: 64.

* MP3/OGG Music
- Music made with different instruments and programs.
- 192kbit/s bitrate, VBR is not accepted.
- ID-TAG must be filled.

* MP3/OGG Song
- Song made with different instruments and programs (the lyrics
should pass censorship on ethics).
- 192kbit/s bitrate, VBR is not accepted.
- ID-TAG must be filled.

* Chip Tune Music
- Tracked music with limited size and channels.
- Filesize limit: 64kb.
- Channels limit: 16.

General:
- XMPlay (PC) and DigiBoosterPro (Amiga) are used.
- Only original works by author are accepted. Remakes, remixes,
covers, etc. are prohibited.
- Tracked music format is XM, IT, S3M, MOD, MED, DBM.
- Compressed samples are not allowed.
- You can use 16bit-samples.
- The song should not loop.
- Maximum playtime is 3 minutes.
- Maximum 2 entries by each author/group in any compo.
- Maximum 15 entries in any compo.


ZX-Spectrum competitions
* 512b Intro
- Works should start without a basic-loader.
- Time limit: 1 minute.
- Maximum 2 entries by each author in compo.
- Maximum entries: 15.

* 4k Intro
- Works should start without basic-loader.
- Time limit: 3 minutes.
- Maximum 2 entries by each author in compo.
- Maximum entries: 15.

* 640k Demo
- Size limit: 640kb (one 5"25 TR-DOS diskette).
- Time limit: 10 minutes.
- Maximum entries: 10.

* 640k Game
- Demo-mode is desirable.
- Original work is desirable.
- Time limit: 5 minutes.
- Maximum entries: 5.

* ZX Spectrum Graphics
- Usual screen (6912 bytes). For B/W pictures attributes should
be set.
- All graphics works should have a minimum 3 intermediate phases
in the archive.
- Scanned pictures and others copies are not accepted.
- Party version shouldn't show the signature of the
author/group.
- Images with porn elements are not accepted.
- The border will be set to 0 during demonstration.
- Maximum 2 entries by each author and 3 entries by each group
in compo.
- Maximum entries: 40.

* ZX Spectrum AY/YM-Music
- Works can be made with any AY-editor.
- Module must be compiled to #C000 (49152) with total
instruction about places of player and initialization.
- Size limit: 16384 bytes.
- An allocated channels for playing by default is ABC. You can
specify the arrangement of the channels.
- Time limit: 3 minutes.
- Maximum 1 entries by each author and 2 entries by each group
in compo.
- Maximum entries: 15.

* ZX Spectrum TurboAY-Music
- Works can be made with soundcard TurboSound (by NedoPC).
- Your track must be bundled with player.
- Time limit: 3 minutes.
- Maximum 2 entries by each author and 2 entries by each group
in compo.
- Maximum entries: 15.


Other competitions
* Animation
- Animations, videos making made computer.
- Video can be encoded for best quality with MJPEG, AVI, VCD
(mpeg1)/ SVCD (mpeg2).
- For AVI-encoding you must use DivX 4.0 or higher, or Xvid,
audiocodec MP3 (0x55 = MPEG Layer-3).
- We will take works on CD/DVD also.
- Time limit: 5 minutes.
- Maximum entries: 5.

* Wild
- This competition is for works that have been shoot on a photo-
or videocamera and translated into digital format, and also for
works which rules of other competitions do not apply, including
works on non-standard equipment.
- Video can be encoded for best quality with MJPEG, AVI, VCD
(mpeg1)/ SVCD (mpeg2).
- For AVI-encoding you must use DivX 4.0 or higher, or Xvid,
audiocodec MP3 (0x55 = MPEG Layer-3).
- We take works on CD/DVD also.
- Time limit: 5 minutes.
- Maximum entries: 10.

* Flash 4mb demo
- Filesize limit: 4Mb.
- Flash-animation is assumed. Use of JPEG-video is possible only
in small fragments.
- Time limit: 4 minutes.
- Maximum entries: 10.
