Evoke '99 PartyReport by friedbits of [aRF]

With Evoke '99, nonc and I once again have beaten our hardware-
compression record, stuffing 7 computers and 4 monitors plus
additional equipment into my small Opel Corsa (Vauxhall that is
for UK residents).
And, the same as last year, we were to stupid to find the location
with potis maps and instructions :) but 2 hours after the official
start we arrived...
And it was surely nice to see how evoke has grown over the years,
but while this one was bigger than 98 and 97, it still had a nice,
familiar atmosphere. I would guess there were like 250-300
attendees, thats also what some orgas told me.

This year I was especially proud to lend my amiga to Cyclone of
Abyss to let him finish his grafics entry which ranked third in
the compo.
Bombe of Smash Design told me that he still hasnt got news from
the insurance (he crashed a rented car at underground conference
3d) and I managed to make mm3o3 go home :) Maybe he disliked it
when I told him that I dont want him to stand that near to us so
that nobody will connect us :) And maybe it wasnt all that nice
to say that in front of his girl-friend :) Who cares.
Unfortunately I had to work on our demo almost all the time (and
we didnt finish it in time of course :) ), it was a really nice
party, as we met many friends like the vacuum crew, digital
overflow, Bombe, and of course poti, the most friendly party-orga
ever :)

Some of the compos were really nice, I have to especially mention
the 64k intro by Haujobb, which could have also won a demo compo
easily IMHO.
But other compos were nice as well like the all famous surprise
compos, or KB singing his accompagnied multichannel release from
the uc3d call Betonmixer :)
But I guess most of you will already have seen the entries as I
was quite lazy finishing this report.
Also nice was the invitation demo for the Underground Conference
4gw by vacuum, which featured nice lamerbashing on MM3o3 and a
pic of the car bombe crashed at UC3d.

I will certainly return to Evoke 2k, especially because the 99
party was not only nice and friendly, but also well organized...
We only had one power outage when a dumbass pulled a plug at the
table next to us, there were clean toilets during the whole
weekend, a nice beamer and sound-equipment and a cool, separated
sleeping hall.

So there's just one question left: 'Will Linux 6.1 have .lha
support? My Winzip just doesnt get it'
