* Background Story *

"Gentlemen. I'll get right to the point. As you all know, the last powerful Strogg
warlord, Jorg, was defeated a month ago. Since his defeat, our forces have met only
light resistance throughout the front. We have pushed the Strogg back, gaining
more and more ground as each day passes. Fighting isn't as fierce as before.
Some strategic positions have been completely abandoned. It seems that their
morale is as fragile as our intelligence suggested. This is definitely a good
sign. We have been living near the edge of extinction for too long now and
it is finally time to end this massive conflict.
The Strogg are cornered, but a lot of their outposts and larger fortifications
are hidden in asteroid fields or buried deep beneath planet surfaces. We need
to discover the location of their bases. Recently we managed to capture a
Strogg freighter en route to one of their outposts under construction. It is
probably located deep underground, so detecting it from the orbit would be
very difficult. The freighter's computer has been set to fly directly
to the Strogg outpost. This will reveal its location to us and we can
send a team of marines with the vessel to infiltrate the outpost. Once inside,
the team will search for the Strogg Enigma CD. We can use the CD to monitor
encrypted Strogg transmission and thus find out the location of several
other outposts and bases before we are discovered. It is imperative that
we get this CD, unnoticed, so the base will be destroyed to make it look
like a regular assault. Also, getting the CD may mean an early stop
to this war.
The marines will board the vessel soon and head towards the planet. Wish
them luck."

"Okay marines, this is it. Insertion will happen in 10 minutes. Get to your
positions. After the loading dock, we'll infiltrate the base through the ventilation
systems. The big boys will keep us informed of any bigger changes, locally
we've got Major Mullins who will stay back. You all have your strategic
computers, but out here they may not be so reliable. Just remember to maintain
unit cohesion. And keep your distance intervals from each other! I don't one
grenade take out the whole squad. Lastly, keep your eyes open. This base
will be pretty tough. Because it's still under construction, there might be
unfinished areas down there with some caverns, maybe even lava. We get in,
we get the Enigma CD and get out. One last thing. We need to blow up the
base so the Strogg won't suspect a thing. We've got some heavy explosives
with us, so be careful with your fire. If we can't set the explosives, we can
use the outpost's pumps to fill it with lava. Careful though, we need a fast
exit after that. And if all else fails, Cruiser Vandenberg is standing by to
bombard the outpost to Hell. Everything clear? Now let's go!"
