THE STORY

The year is 2072.

The war has been on for nearly three years and the elite Earth forces are growing
thin from attrition. Earth government has found you by culling combat records of the
remaining "First 5000"; men and women who have been at war since Day Zero.
Using advanced stealth technology you and the other remaining veterans will be
dropped on Stroggos to destroy their war machine.

The briefing room is hot and moist from all the sweat soaked bodies. A low muttering from the assembled soldiers and officers cuts off when the close-cropped white haired head of General Sam "Steel Eye" Tanhouser moves to the dais. Silence. Both of the Generals eyes scan the assemblage, one steel with scars the other ice blue. Smoke rises up from her ever-present cigar drifting in the currents of ventilation fans whirring overhead and within the bulkheads.

"Gentlemen, Ladies, what we are asking you to do is, to say the least, difficult.
Our intel has determined that the Strogg are about to mount a major invasion
of Earth using their Portal technology. You must disrupt their supply lines,
destroy their Portal factory, shutdown their energy nexus and halt the invasion
of Earth. We will be dropping you on the mountain redoubt from which we believe
this can all be accomplished."
"We will provide air support, drawing off the greatest number of the enemy
possible from the drop zone. By dividing the enemy forces we hope to increase
the chances you'll have for success. Due to the estimated scope of the operation your
resupply lines will be sporadic. We cannot with any assuredness even guarantee your
return."
"We wish you, the veterans of day zero, the best of luck in accomplishing your
mission."

"Gentlemen and Ladies you now begin operation 'Divide By Zero'. May Gods have
mercy on your souls. Dismissed! "
