Story :
-------
...."Ah, Gordon, there you are. We've just sent the sample down to the test chamber. The administrator is very concerned that we get a conclusive analysis of today's sample. I gather they went to some lengths to get it."...... "Yes, but with good reason. This is a rare opportunity for us. This is the purest sample we've seen yet."

Purest sample? Then what went wrong? How did a pure sample rip a portal between Earth and Xen? Find out in "Sabotage".

You play the role of a mercenary, specialized in infiltration and sabotage. You learn of the experiments to be held in the Black Mesa Research Facility (BMRF) - under the supervision of the G-man. Seven years earlier, the G-man had you sent to a high-security prison for a crime you never committed. Back then, you were a high profile elite warrior highly respected for your skills. But your reputation was tarnished for life by the G-man, now an administrator in the Black Mesa Research facility. Now, seven years later, you will finally have your revenge.

Using your contacts, you learn about the experiments that are going to be conducted in Black Mesa by a certain Dr. Freeman. He will supposedly use a pure Xen sample crystal. You also find out about a delivery truck that delivers regular supplies to the facility. You prepare to hijack the delivery truck to Black Mesa. Killing its driver is an unforunate side effect. You then disguise yourself as the truck driver to enter Black Mesa.

Having gained access into the complex, you then make your way to the lower levels of Black Mesa, and switch the sample for an impure one before the experiment is to take place. Things are bound to go wrong with a switched sample, and the administrator will be made the scapegoat. He will take the blame. And you will have your revenge.

How to play:
------------
1. Unzip all the files into valve\maps (ie, if your copy is installed in c:\sierra\half-life\ then place them in c:\sierra\half-life\valve\maps

2. Run Half-Life, invoke the console (press the ~ key) , and type "map hlsab10" (without the quotes). You can use the console only if you run half-life with the command line parameter "-console". If you need any further help, feel free to mail me.

Notes :
-------
1. This is my first map ever, so I would really appreciate some feedback (constructive criticism). Please be as descriptive as you can. Don't tell me, "It's cool", or "This sucks". Comments like that will not help either of us, since I'll never know what you liked or did not like. And if I don't know that, I can't change my mapping techniques too much, can I? :-)

2. Though I have tried to be as consistent with Half-Life as possible, some dialogues and architecture had to be modified to suit this particular level (and my mapping skills :-). If that sentence didn't make sense, play Sabotage, and then read it again. If it still doesn't make sense, play Half-Life again (from when you step out of the in-bound train, all the way to the test chamber, mess up the experiment, and all the way back to the "missing" train), play Sabotage, and then re-read that sentence. If it *still* doesn't make sense ..... well, never mind.

Known issues:
-------------
Sometimes, you may get stuck in a level transition that involves an elevator. This happens only if you stand too close to the walls of the elevator.

A few personal points:
----------------------
If you are a person trying to learn how to map, I would suggest you pick up a copy of QuArK (http://www.planetquake.com/quark). It's the best editor that I have come across, and is very amateur friendly. You won't believe how easy it is to align textures with QuArK. It also has a more sophisticated texture browser, so you won't have to scroll through one gigantic list.

Other Notes :
-------------
You MAY distribute this map, provided you include this file, with no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this file intact. If you are adding this to any Half-Life map collections, email me for permission.
