Freemans Allegiance 1: White Mesa 1999 to John F. Ievins. This map may not be decompiled or edited without the express permission of the Author. It may be reposted on the World Wide Web, or via email, or on a newsgroup, as long as it is in the form of this original Winzip / PKZIP file.

This map was created by The Grendel (thegrendel@thegrendel.freeserve.co.uk), who bears absolutely no relation to 'Grendel', another member of the HL community, and hence would like his name to be abbreviated to TG.

Plot:
-----
Scroll down for further details (it is based on the end of Half Life, and hence I do not want to spoil it for anyone who has not completed Half Life). Basically, Freeman is in a distant part of Black Mesa, and there are loads of sniper marines there, ready to kill you. However, this is meant to be a continuation of the Half Life plot, and hence if you have not completed Half Life, and do not know the ending, then I suggest that you leave this map until you have.

Gameplay:
---------
There is absolutely no health in this level. That is the central idea behind it... you must get health from the single scientist. At the beginning, there is a headcrab which will kill the scientist unless you stop it by getting it to attack you.

The second door will close after 60 seconds, while all other doors remain open all the time. Be careful not to strand yourself on the other side from the scientist.

Basically, be on the look out for Marines hiding around corners etc.

Sequels:
--------
This map is intended as a starting point for a series. Therefore, the plot does not really conclude at the end. The next one will see you spending the entire level running from a Gargantua! Scary

!WARNING!
!!!!!!!!!
The following explanation of the plot will ruin the Half Life ending!

This plot assumes that Freeman joined the Black suit man as a ploy to stay alive. He was teleported to a far facility in Black Mesa, ordered to inform a number of 'Sniper' marines who were keeping radio silence that they should pack up and go home. Freeman attacked a Marine who was brutally murdering a Scientist. This marine manages to steal Freemans weapons, and uses an electronical device to deactivate his suit, and then runs away, to inform all the other marines. Then the actual level starts.
