Description of the Modification
-------------------------------

This modification (or MOD) has several new weapons and monsters (and
improvments to some of the old monsters) that help make Quake a little more
fun. I also added support for most hipnotic and rogue level enhancements.
There is however no support for the hipnotic and rogue monsters.

This was meant to make single player quake more enjoyable. To do that I made
the monsters turn into gibable corpses when they die, and sometimes they will
drop a powerup. The powerups that they will sometimes drop are the pent,
quad, ring of shadows, empathy shield and morph item, but they last for a
shorter ammount of time then normal. The empathy shield is from the hipnotic
mission pak and with it half the damage done to you is also done to your
attacker. The morph item is a special item that will morph you into a
monster. You can morph into a fiend, hell knight, ogre, shalrath, shambler,
and now a scrag! I also added crouching so you can crouch down and make
yourself smaller and harder to hit -- it also helps with hiding in deathmatch.

If you wish to learn about the weapons then read weapons.txt.
To learn about the hipnotic rogue or my level enhancements then read the
files in the docs folder.

For best gameplay I recomend running quake with -hipnotic in the command
line (you can use this even if you dont have the hipnotic mission pak).


New Key's - Impulses - and other commands

ENTER		: This is the "use" key. Made for cameras, but works with
		: doors and other things
F		: Flares! (Flares use cells)
X		: Crouch.
USE		: Just bind a key to use. Currently bound to ENTER.
AUTOCAM		: This makes the chase-cam automaticly come on when you
		: Morph into a monster.
+CROUCH		: Crouch. Just bind a key. Currently bound to X.
Impulse 9	: All The Weapons!
Impulse 15	: Chase Cam! (Great for when you morph into a monster)
Impulse 30	: Morph back into a human. Use this if you morphed into a
		: Monster and don't want to be a monster anymore.
Impulse 31	: Makes it so you cannot get the morph item.
Impulse 32	: Morph into a Random Monster. Free Morphing must be on!
Impulse 33	: Morph into a Ogre. Free Morphing must be on!
Impulse 34	: Morph into a Shalrath. Free Morphing must be on!
Impulse 35	: Morph into a Shambler. Free Morphing must be on!

	16	: Players can't use Airgun!
	32	: Players can't use Flares!
	64	: Players can't use Flamethrower!
	128	: Players can't use Plasma Rifle or BFG!
	256	: Players can't use Sniper Rifle!
	512	: Free Morphing on! Players can morph to any monster whenever
		: they want! Lots of fun in DM!


If you ever find yourself in the need of more sniper rounds then you can
just make more. It will cost 10 shells and 50 nails to make 5 sniper rounds!


How to Install the Modification
-------------------------------

Create a directory called FLATERTH (or whatever you want to call it) as
a subdirectory in your Quake directory (parallel to the ID1 directory) move
all files included in this archive to the FLATERTH directory.  To play,
type QUAKE -GAME FLATERTH from the Quake directory. You can also add
-hipnotic to the command line to see the new status bar icons.

This modification REQUIRES Quake version 1.08 or 1.09! If you dont have Quake
1.08 then I have included it with the *full install* so you can run my mod.
Just copy quake.exe into your quake folder and overwrite the old quake.exe.

This modification only works with the registered version of Quake! And I
am not just saying that because id wants everyone to buy the game! It really
does need the full version!

New in this version!

Fixed problem with imp.mdl and DOSQuake.
Fixed bug with corpses and grappling hook.
Fixed bugs that kept you from loading saved games.
Fixed bugs with morphing.
Fixed a bunch of other bugs! A few with my weapon code, the rest just other
 stuff I found while cleaning my code.
Made monsters be affected by lava & slime!
Players can become gibbable corpses in DM!
Players can be frozen in DM! (can't freeze a players corpse yet though)
Put Noclip back in. (took it out a while back for some reason and forgot to
 put it back!)
Almost ALL monsters are freezable! New frozen skins for all monsters!

Now when you morph into a monster 1 selects melee weapon and the rest select
 the other weapon for your class.

Fixed in 1.7B!

scrag flying kept when you respawn, morph into another monster or change level
wrong frames being played when standing/running as a monster
BFG doing way, way to many tracelines
plasma gun just stops firing when you get to 1 cell, and doesn't switch to
 better weapon

Known Bugs
----------

* Corpses will sometime fall through or into the floor. Not a big problem,
just ignor it.

* Corpses can sometimes get in the way on stairs and ramps.

Imps "swoop" attack not added yet. I was going to add it but I ran into a
 problem with it (easy to fix, just didn't, will next version).

Your view bobs when you suffer from a frozen death in DM. The problem is
 something to do with the code that copies your body so you can be frozen.

If you are up in the air when you die in DM(like a rocketjump death), you
 will be stuck in the air and see your corpse fall to the ground. COOL! umm
 i guees i need to fix that...

Fly mode has been temporarly disabled. if you try to turn it on your console
 will say flymode on, but it wont turn on or tell you that its turned off

*  I do not plan on fixing these bugs, you just have to live with them! Even
though I currently do not plan on fixing them they might still end up getting
fixed in a later version.


Reporting Bugs

First make sure you have the latest version of Quake! If you use DOS Quake
you need 1.08 (now included with full install of this mod) or if using
WinQuake you need 1.0 (Quake 1.09), for GLQuake you need 0.97 (Quake 1.09).
If you have the latest version of Quake & this MOD then send your bug to
kryten@spyring.com. Make sure you include (with great detail) how you found
the bug (or how the bug found you).
