Linchpin - multiplayer/easy skirmish map by Dark Angel Fedrael

The design of this map should make for some tension as you create your dungeon. The four keepers are kept apart by a small plug of rock that any of them could instruct their imps to pull out at any time. Build your rooms and train your creatures quickly. Watch the other keepers and maybe you can strike with an advantage: Yellow Keeper has all his black knights sleeping off a gruelling training in the combat pit? Strike! Your warlocks have researched the call to arms spell first? Attack! Green Keeper's mistresses are all in the torture chamber at the far end of the map? Charge! But beware someone else doesn't pull the pin first, for when that happens chaos and carnage is inevitable - the flowers of all colours over the fighting, falling, dying creatures at the sudden crossroads is a joy to behold.
The map is equal for all keepers - unless out of sheer malevolence I happen to have hidden a neutral prince entombed somewhere within the rock in one quarter of the map.

Copyright Jonny Fedrael: don't put my map anywhere without this file - I'm hoping that my innovations will be noticed by a talent scout from Bullfrog. Well, it is a fantasy game...

Setting up: everything goes in Bullfrog/Dungeon Keeper 2/data/editor/maps except for the bmp file which goes in Dungeon Keeper 2/data/editor/maps/thumbnails. For some reason it appears in the middle of the skirmish list of maps, I don't know why.

Proviso: I'm sorry if this does anything bad to your system, it's not my fault. It works fine on mine, with DK2 upgrade 1.51 as I think the skirmish A.I. is better than 1.7 - enemy keepers don't defend claimed tiles in later upgrades.

Thanks to Bullfrog for the best game ever, to the lovely Mark Kinkead for the editor, and to The Evil One for his web pages that stopped me pulling my hair out (area triggers, THEN time triggers, ah-ha, that's why it wasn't working).

E-mail me with comments if you like at Jonseroo@ntlworld.com, and I would appreciate suggestions about map making as I am going to make lots more maps. Look out for other maps I am feverishly creating and playtesting:

Keeper of the Rings - "One ring to rule them all and in the darkness...damn, where did I put it?"
Seven Deadly Sins - temptations distract you from battle; if you have to be good to win, wouldn't you rather be evil and lose?
Teleport Assault - enemy minions keep on appearing in your dungeon as if by magic - leaving no trail to their keeper's heart.
Macbeth - slay the king and fortify against the coming foliage of vengeance.
Food Chain - can there be a winner in this conundrum of a multiplayer game?
Four Horsemen - Death, Pestilence, and Famine plot against you, to win you must become War.
Here Be Dragons - ambush the prince as he hunts the deadly lizards that migrate across the land.
