Tropical Norns, by The Grendel, for Creatures 1.

You have my permission to disribute this creature freely, as long as this readme file always accomapines it, unedited, and you acknowledge that I made it.

About The Tropical Norns:
-------------------------
The main feature of the Tropical Norns is that they require more care than other Norns, due to a less efficient Starch --> Glucose Gene (Based on the Highlander and Zeus Genes). They also carry the Saturn Gene, the active antibodies antibody genes, and a lot of extra instincts (from Forest, Ron and just plain invented by LUMMOXJR of The Norn Underground). They have the appearance of the hairless Norns, but do not act the same.

About Thomas, the male Tropical Norn:
-------------------------------------
Thomas is male, and has horns (as do many male Norns)

About Thomasette, the female Tropical Norn:
-------------------------------------------
Thomasette is female, and is a clone of Thomas.

Previous versions:
------------------
The Beta 1.0's lived for a few seconds, and then died. Beta 1.1's were kept alive for about 50 secs using drugs. Beta 1.2's had a faulty Saturn Gene. Beta 1.3's were the same as the current version.

LUMMOXJR, of The Norn Underground (www.dreamscape.com/Lummoxjr/Creatures/), for his Nuclear Chamber, where I got all the information necessary to create these Norns. Many thanks also to Scott Macleman, who helped test the beta 1.3 version of the Norns (The Creatures Site, expect a link soon, but at present I don't know the URL).

Other Information:
------------------
I intend to create Cobs specifically for these Norns (a warmth infusion will be happening, as well as a special version of the Coconut), and also a new world, the Tropics, although this will be a mirror Albia with just a few changes. The Tropics may not even be included on my site, it depends on the success of the Norns.

The story:
----------
Early on in the history of Albia, a massive blade floated in the heavens. It slit through Albia several times, making several copies (as Albia is a 2D world, this made little difference to the resident Creatures, other than the fact that a few eggs went missing). One was identical to the original, and this took on the name of Albia, with the others taking on names like 'The Albian Tropics', 'The Albian Mountains', etc. On several of these separate worlds, a few eggs hatched. No Shee eggs were taken, but plenty of Norn and Grendel eggs were. The Shee, being intelligent enough for spaceflight, visited these nearby worlds, and these visits only added to their opinion that all worlds were disk-shaped. They helped the Norns on the other planets survive, and on almost all those planets which had one Male and one Female egg on the planet at the biggining, a new sub-species of Norn evolved, which managed to combat the problems of their world.
The Tropical Norns evolved on the Albian Tropics, the closest world to the Albian sun, and so the hottest. They have a much shorter lifespan than the average Albian Norn, due to a problem in the Genetics of one of the Three founder eggs - the only male. The Shee helped the colony survive despite this setback, and the colony thrived.
Once the Shee left, the population died out, like on almost all other disk-worlds. The Shee left only two eggs in spare keeping, as this colony was not as diverse as the colony of Albia, and so it was not worth the Shee's while leaving more, and this would have reduced the colonies chance of survival. What followed isn't as sad as many people assume it to be. All the Norns died of OLD AGE!! They were simply not capable of breeding that much without Shee help, and so that generation survived for the normal length, without leaving any descendants.
The other parralel Albias are still in the process of being explored, and only two new worlds have yet had their eggs found. The Tropics and the Mountains (The Forest, Ron and many other breeds were found hidden inside Albia itself, and it is speculated that other breeds may be inside the Tropics or Mountains, although it is generally doubted). Who knows how many new species of Norns there are out there (Who cares? We'll never find them all.) The 'Albian Tropics' and the 'Albian Mountains' are currently being checked for anything which may be harmful to ordinary Norns, and will soon be visitable by you and your Norns!
One last note about the 'Albian Tropics', it has been very highly developed, which is a surprise considering even Albia, the 'Mother World' was not to this extent! There have been plenty of theories as to why this may have happened, the most strange of which is that an Ettin, a species that is known to have been created by the Shee for building work, is or was present on the world, and has done all the amazing work, however this is doubted, as no Creature remains have had similar DNA to an Ettin. Obviously, there is a chance that I may have missed it, as I was feeling particularly drowsy when checking the Island (which explains how quickly I did it), and so I may have missed it, but I doubt it. How come the Ettins of Albia didn't create this much technology? It is a real mystery, one which hopefully will get cleared up when non-reasearch teams are cleared to go to the Tropics. E-Mail me if you find any clues.
Also, although a preliminary classification of the most abundant foods in the area nearby to the Incubator (which I had to put there myself, and was very very heavy, believe me), and of any herbs, dangers, and anything which might be found useful in that area, the rest of the World has only been explored by a preliminary scan for new lifeforms, and the local objects have not been checked for what they do. For this reason, I plead with you to visit the 'Albian Tropics', and tell me if you see anything which is not in the tropic guide. If you do find anything useful you will be accredited for the discovery, and the results will be added to the tropic guide. So get exploring. I am aiming to complete the survey by the 9th of January, although it might be delayed or speeded up, depending on what resources I get access to (It is unknown yet whether I will soon be allowed to get a few Norns from Albia to help me out, particularly two called Jack and Izzy, who can be found in the Norn Underground, the URL of which is listed above.) But, until then, keep theorising about the new technology, and try to get an 'explorer' Tropical Norn, to help discover new information about the 'Albian Tropics', to help other people get their Norns exploring.
