Model description : Three years after the One Year War has ended, the Earth Federation has been secretly negotiating with Anaheim Electronics on the Gundam Project. Designed by systems engineer Nina Purpleton, and constructed in UC 0083, the RX-78 GP01 Gundam had a short lived life. It was to be the prototype for a new series of ground based mobile suits. It was transported along with the GP02A from Anaheim to the Federations Torrington base in Australia aboard the Albion. Shortly after arriving at the base, the GP02A was stolen by Zeon. Young test pilot Kou Uraki took the GP01 and with his team chased the GP02A. This chase would take the GP01 into space, where its performance failed poorly. It was ultimately laid to waste by Zeon Lieutenant Cima Garahau in her MS-14Fs Gelgoog. After a crash landing in the Albion's hanger, the GP01 was taken back to Anaheim to be repaired and refitted with the FB option parts.
