0. Quick FAQ :
------------------------

Q. Where can I download Action Half-Life?
A. It can be downloaded from http://ahl.action-web.net

Q. Does AHL include Single Player support?
A. No, AHL is currently a multiplayer only mod.

Q. Does it include BOT support?
A. Yes, it supports limited bots. They suck, big time.
 Read the file 'bots.txt'.

Q. Why do I get this CL_ParseServerMessage error?
A. This a bug in Half-Life that occurs when you first try to join a server.
It is caused by you having you model set to a non-Action Half-Life model
(We think). Try selecting a model from the Multiplayer->Customise menu and
then reconnecting. Alternately, run HL with the command line
"hl.exe -game action", then select a model, quit, then run it again and
try connecting (By quitting out you ensure your player model has been set
 to an AHL player model).

Q. How do I choose a new crosshair or set other client side options?
A. All clients side options (crosshair choice, deathcam etc) are
located in the 'multiplayer->customise->advanced' section in HL.

Q. How do I use the radio?
A. Hit the key you bound to "radio" to bring up the radio menu.

Q. How do I add my own custom messages to this radio?
A. Go through your config.cfg after you have played AHL at least once.
 Look for 'rad_message#' and 'rad_name#' (where # is 1-10)
rad_message# = actual command that is sent
 rad_name# = description of shortcut
ie. rad_message1 "radio go; gesture point_forward; say_team GO! GO! GO!"
	    rad_name1 "1. GO!"
Comes up in the menu as "1. GO!". When selected, you will radio 'go',
point_forward and say 'GO! GO! GO!' to all your team mates.

Q. How do I use gestures? (ie. wave, taunt)
A. Hit the key you bound to "gesture" to bring up the gestures menu.

Q. Why do I die when I get shot?
A. The damage in Action Half-Life is high. One or two shots is usually
enough to kill anyone (Especially a shot to the head). Learn to use
cover and how to dodge/dive out of the way.

Q. My health keeps going down when I get shot, what do I do?
A. You need to bandage. Hit the key you bound "heal"
If your health is really low (5 or less), don't bother...
You are going to die anyway... might as well go out in a blaze of glory...

Q. I can't hit anyone, what gives?
A. Your accuracy is effecting by things like movement, stance and rate
of fire (to an extent). Try standing still when you go to fire, or
better yet crouching. If you are using a fully automatic weapon, try
 keeping to short bursts.

Q. I saw someone dive! Looked cool, how do I do that?
A. Move in the direction you want to dive in and then hit the key you
bound to +stunt. Diving forward makes you end up in the prone
position. All others dives are temporary. You will remain down until
you stop firing and take you finger of +stunt/+duck.

Q. Saw someone dodge too... what about that?
A. If you selected the "dodge on strafe jump" option when you first
started up Action Half-Life, then you can dodge (Else you should set
that option now. Use the command "setup"). To dodge, simply strafe
left or right, and then jump.

Q. Prone... whats that?
A. Lying prone. It makes you a smaller target while at the same time
increasing your accuracy. To lie prone, press +stunt, then +duck.
Alternately, you can dive forward. To stand up, press +stunt again
or pull back. While lying prone, you can still strafe from side to
side (err, roll), but cannot shoot while doing so.

Q. How do I use the in-game menus?
A. Use your movement keys to choose options.
Hit fire to select an option.
Hitting altfire will close the menu.
You can also use slot1-10 shortcuts.

Q. How do I customise the team names/models?
A. Look in the teams.ini. You can setup custom teams in there.

Q. What does 1337 mean?
A. 1337 (or l337) stands for 'leet', as in 'elite'.
If you don't know what the means, get a dictionary.

addloc "location"	- adds a new location, ready to be saved

------------------------
4. Server Variables :
	(Servers only)
------------------------
sv_lowlag 0/1	- cuts down on eye candy like blood, gibs and so on, to reduce
the strain on the server/clients, as well as reducing network traffic.
		In other words LESS LAG!!!
			default = 1

mp_goalsoff 0/1 - disables most game_ent's (basically makes the level right for DM only)
Only needed for Teamplay (Deathmatch automatically removes such ent's)
(Some maps support this more then others)
		default = 0

 *NEW*
mp_bots 0-?	- spawn this many bots into the game.
Make sure Max Players is set high enough first.

mp_lives 0-?	- in round based game (LMS or Action Teamplay), you will
have this many lives instead of just '1'. Note that this
will have no affect in goal based maps that define teams.

mp_chasecam = replaces older cvars to control chasecam modes etc
	        0 = chasecam off
	        1 = chasecam on
	        2 = chase teammates only

 mp_gametype 0 = Deathmatch
1 = Last Man Standing (Deathmatch with rounds basically)
2 = Last Man Standing with equipment selection
		3 = Teamplay
		4 = Teamplay w/o rounds
 *NEW*

mp_tkdeal	- How to deal with Team Killers
(People dumb enough to kill their own team mates
over and over again like the morons they are)

		1 = Punishment only
TK's spawn with nothing, can't pick up anything or deal
any damage. They also glow a bit and have a huge sign
saying "SHOOT ME!" over their head. If you kill someone
like this, you get a free frag (doesn't count as a TK,
even if they're on you're team)

		2 = Vote-kick
Punishes the TK, then asks for their team to vote against
them. If the result is over 45%, they are kicked.

		3 = Auto-kick
			Automatically kicks the Team Killer
		default : 1

mp_teamkills	- Max number of team kills before being considered a Team Killer
A TK needs to reach this or greater amount of kills before
punishment etccomes into play. See above notes for how it works...

mp_roundtimelimit - Time limit, but for each round
		(Action Teamplay or LMS mode)

mp_fraglimit	- In Deathmatch, this sets the max frag limit
In Teamplay, this sets the maximum score the team can reach

mp_nogrenade	- normally choosing a bandolier in teamplay gives you a grenade
Setting this makes it so that no longer happens.
		default : 0

------------------------
5. Special moves :
	These are Action Half-Life's "stunts"
	They help keep you alive.
Note that most of them use some effort,	so you can't simply keep
diving about the place and so on... you get tired after doing
2 or 3 of these things.
------------------------
Jump Kick	- Jump while moving towards an enemy
You'll notice your gun go deploy and here a kick sound.
Does some damage and makes your enemy fly backwards.
They may also drop their weapon.

Spin Kick	- Hit +stunt, then jump.
You'll notice your gun go deploy, your screen tilt
and then here a kick sound as you actually finish the kick.
Does more damage then a Jump Kick, but is harder to do.
Also makes them fly back and possibly drop their weapon.

Lying Prone	- Hold +stunt for a bit, then duck.
If you didn't let go of stunt, releasing it will make you stand up.
If you did let go, pressing it, jumping or moving backwards will also
		make you stand up.

Alternately, you can dive forward into the prone position.

While prone, you are harder to hit and aim better,
but you can't move around very well.

Rolling	- While lying prone, strafe left/right.
While rolling, you cannot fire your weapon.
Only form of movement available while prone.

Climbing up	- press and hold jump while next to a wall/crate etc
If you can climb up, you will notice your weapon disappear
and will start climbing up. Once you have made it all the
way, release +jump to stand and bring your weapon out.
To cancel climbing up, simply let go of +jump.

Dodging - If you selected the "dodge on strafe jump" option when you
first started up Action Half-Life, then you can dodge
(Else you should set that option now. Use the command "setup").
To dodge, simply strafe left or right, and then jump.

Diving - Move in the direction you want to dive in and then hit +stunt.
Diving forward makes you end up in the prone position.
All others dives are temporary. You will remain down until
you stop firing and take you finger of +stunt/+duck.

Diving makes you harder to hit and at the same time more accurate.
The trade of is that when you land, you're vulnerable until
you get back up. Though this isn't long, it's long enough to
		get your head blown off.

Remember that you can dive through windows.
Nothing looks cooler then seeing someone dive out a window
and cap someone in the head before the glass even hits the ground.

Long Jumping	- This is done the same way as it was done in regular HL.
Hit duck, then jump almost immediately.
It takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it,
you can jump across areas you normally couldn't.

------------------------
6. Weapons :
	Altfire = +attack2
	Changing modes = +attack2
------------------------

Fists - Yes, the ultimate weapon of destruction.... or not.
Let's you beat the crap out of someone.
Simple, pretty effective if you are good enough.

Knife - It slices, it dices, it can be thrown pretty far.
Slash : close range, high damage.
			Doesn't care about vests much.

Throw : close to mid range, VERY hight damage.
Also Doesn't care about vests much.
By holding fire, you also hold the knife.

Beretta	- The classic movie gun makes it to the Action world.
Good damage, reasonable range and clip size (15 rounds)

Automatic : higher rate of fire at the cost of accuracy

Semi-auto : slower rate of fire, but in this mode you
can actually pull off head shots a lot more.

Ammo : 9mm pistol clips (15 bullets per clip)

Anaconda	- Dirty harry right here.
Normal : slower and more accurate

Fast : faster but lots of kick (so less accurate)

Ammo : .44 (6 come with the 9mm pistol clips)

Hand Cannon - ala Mad Max
Target at long range? Forget about it.
Close to medium? Yeah, maybe piss em' off
                Point blank? No worries.
Vests don't mean much to it at point blank.

Both Barrels : BOOM! Ya REALLY dead!

Single Barrel : Boom, less spread, less damage.

 Pump-action Shotgun - it's a shotgun.
Vests don't mean much to it at point blank.
                Nuff' said.

                Ammo : Shells
(up to 8. Hold down reload to reload properly)

 MP5k - Sub-machinegun.
Rapid fire, light damage, accurate at close-medium,
if stationary. Don't expect to hit much on full-auto
                while moving.

Modes : single shot & 3round burst offer good accuracy.
Full-auto does not, but there is no delay.

                Ammo : MP5 clips (30 per clip)

 M4 - Assault Rifle
Rapid fire, good damage, not so accurate mid to long
range weapon. Used best for cover fire, as it takes
some practice to use effectively in other modes.

Modes : single shot & 3round burst offer better accuracy.
Full-auto isn't accurate, but there is no delay.

                Ammo : M4 clips (24 per clip)

 50cal - Bolt-action Sniper Rifle
High accuracy and very high damage.
Un-zooms between shots, so the next round
                can be chambered.

Unzoomed : Not so accurate, but you can see more

                Zoomed : 100% accurate if you're stationary.

                Ammo : 50cal clips (6 per clip)

 MSG90 - Sniper Rifle
                High accuracy and damage.
Doesn't un-zoom between shots and reloads faster.

Unzoomed : Not so accurate, but you can see more

                Zoomed : 100% accurate if you're stationary.

                Ammo : MSG90 clips (5 per clip)

Frag grenade - Blows up doing lots of damage.
Duck or lie prone for less damage.
                Can be thrown through glass.

Modes : short, medium or long range

                Ammo : Frag grenades

------------------------
7. Items :
------------------------

Kevlar Vest - Protects your chest, back and stomach areas.
Doesn't offer 100% protection, but it does
let you take a few hits with out dying,
                depending on the weapon.

Bandolier - Doubles ammo carrying capacity and lets you
carry TWO Unique weapons. In teamplay, this
also comes with a frag grenade (if enabled).

Silencer - Makes your weapon quieter and removes the flash.
                Only works for some weapons.

Laser Sight - Increases your accuracy with some weapons.
The trade of is the little red dot that can give you
                away sometimes.
NOTE : YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO USE THE DOT TO AIM WITH!!!

Stealth Slippers - You no longer make footstep or landing sounds.

Flash Light - Lets you light up dark areas or blind anyone using
                Night Vision Goggles.

Night Vision Goggles - lets you see in dark areas.
If someone shines you with a torch though, you will
be blinded for a few seconds.

                NOTES : - Doesn't require a 3D card
                        - Works with 3DFX cards
                        - Hits your performance some
(10-15 fps, depending on map, machine etc)

                Use them, don't use them.
                Your choice.
