ORTYPE version 1.00 (shareware version) for Win 95/98
   For Evaluation Porposes Only
   Evaluation trialware Vertion 1.00

   Installation:

If you received ORTYPE in an standard archive,
Extract the setup.exe file into some directory
   and run the setup.exe program.

   Requirements:

   Windows 95 or 98

   Distribution:

This program is shareware. It is freely distributable.

   The Goal of the Program:

The goal of Ortype is to facilitate typing speed while minimizing
the effort involved. The program is compatible with all word
processors and commercial programs that require use of a keyboard.

     How to Use the Program:

By pressing on a combination of keys (the order in which the keys
are pressed is unimportant), a word or phrase which was defined by
the program or you will appear on the screen.
    For example:
By pressing on the letters "q" and "d", the date will appear in this
    format:
              "Monday, February 28, 2000."
Pressing "g" and "d" will cause "!" to appear. (These two letters are
    easier to press than Shift-1).
You can choose any combination of keys that you want. The advantage
for you is that you can avoid keys difficult to reach on the keyboard,
and can type words with minimal movement on the keyboard.
Certain predefined letter combinations will give frequently used words
such as "Yours truly" and "e-mail". You my define combinations which
you use frequently in work and in your correspondence, such as your
e-mail and home address, your full name. etc. For instance, if you
define "qw" to be your address, you will save yourself the bother of
typing out your full address each time.
The program works in the background, and is invisible until you use
one of the defined key combinations. Typing only one letter will not
activate the program and the letter will be shown on the screen. The
program works with every program that requires use of a keyboard.
The order in which you type the key combination is unimportant. For
instance, if your name is Steven Spielberg, and you define the key
combination for this as "sp", the name "Steven Spielberg" will appear
as soon as you depress the keys "s" and "p". It makes no difference
which of the two keys you press first as long as both are pressed
    together.
You may define up to 290 key combinations. If you wish to change any
of the default key combinations, you may do so. We would be pleased
to receive any recommendations concerning default definitions.

Definitions 291-300 define a URL (Internet sites) addresses, pressing
these key combinations will open the default browser with this URL as
    a Home page.
Pressing w and 1 will open Microsoft Word Program.
The program integrates functions of shorthand, typical computer
functions such as date and hour, opening internet sites and the
opportunity to define key combinations for words which are
    inconvenient to type.

     Typing with one hand

If for whatever reason you wish to type with one hand only, Ortype
provides you with default definitions which allow you to use the keypad
of the keyboard to type text. By pressing certain numbers together, you
can get any letter that you like with a minimum amount of hand movement.
For instance, by pressing the numbers "1" and "2" together, the
letter "a" will appear on the screen. The numbers "1" and "3" give
the letter "b", and so forth.
When NUM LOCK is inactive, the keypad is mapped to arrows, arithmetic
functions, menus, and the function keys HOME , PGUP,PGDN,AND END.
Whereas the hand must jump all over the keyboard if one wishes to type
text with one hand, by using Ortype's preprogrammed keypad you can type
text quickly with a minimal amount of hand movement.
Ortype allows you to type text with a keyboard that contains only
a numerical keypad (which can be found in any computer store).

     Primary Screen

To call up Ortype's primary screen, you must click twice on the
program's icon at the bottom of the monitor screen. The Primary screen
that appears provides you with several options:
If you choose DISABLE and then click on OK, the program will become
inactive. The program icon will remain at the bottom of the screen
so you can activate it when you want.
If you choose ENABLE and then click on OK, the program will become
or remain active. The primary screen will then close and the program's
icon will remain at the bottom of the screen. This is the program's
    default.
If you click on CLOSE ORTYPE, the program will close.
If you click on SETTINGS, a window containing the programmed
definitions (the Definitions Screen) will open. You will be able to
change or add to the key combinations listed there.

    Definitions Screen

The Definitions Screen allows you to define key combinations and
the words, letters or sentences that will appear when they are typed.
The part of the screen containing the data is divided into 10 lines with
every line containing five small squares. You can enter up to 5 letters
for each key combination although you will probably find that so many
letters for a key combination is not necessary.
However, if you are using more then 3 letters for a particular
combination, it is necessary to check first whether this combination
is working, because in some keyboards it might not.
An equal sign (=) appears to the right of the five small squares.
To the right of the equal sign, there is a field where you can enter up
to 100 characters. When one types the key combination which appears to
the left of the field, the words that appear in the field will appear.
You may define up to 290 definitions. Every screen contains 10
definitions. To navigate between the screens, click on NEXT and PREV.

The top part of the screen has several buttons.
By clicking on PRINT, you will print all existing definitions.
By clicking on LOAD ONE HAND SETUP, you will load the default program
to type with one hand on the keypad. You may change or add on to the
default definitions for the one hand setup as you wish.
By clicking on LOAD DEFAULT, you will load the default definitions
provided with the program. You can change these definitions as you wish.
By clicking on OK, or on "SAVE AS DEFAULT" you will save all the
settings and definitions you just made, and will then return to the
    opening screen.
