1.	SUMMARY
Job Pointer v2 is a job search bookmark companion for your browser. Version 2.0 has more than 35,000 links to job search engines and databases, job hunting sites, online help wanted classifieds, employer and recruiter jobs pages and career web sites. These are extremely well organized in eight databases, each with dozens of categories and hundreds of sub-categories. Job Pointer runs from your computer so you can get to links you want to use almost instantly without waiting for web pages to download. And because Job Pointer bookmarks the actual job search and listings pages instead of home pages, you don't have to navigate through each web site. Job Pointer v2 includes a complete help file.

2.	SHAREWARE
Job Pointer v2 is shareware. You may try Job Pointer at no cost to see if it will be helpful to you in your job hunt. In fact, you may use Job Pointer the "free puppy" for as long as you want as a non-registered user. Certain features, however, are limited in the free puppy. You can only send links from three of Job Pointer's databases (Big Dogs, Career Esources and Treats) to your browser. Of course, you will be able to see all 35,000 bookmarks in all of the databases. This should allow you to decide whether or not you want to purchase Job Pointer. To use the bookmarks in the other databases you must buy and register Job Pointer.

4.	INSTALLING JOB POINTER
If you haven't done so already, unzip the remaining files in the zip archive where you found this ReadMe file. It is usually a good idea to create a folder (directory) where you can save these files. You can call it "JP Setup" or whatever you wish. After unzipping the files from the jpv2.zip archive, navigate to this folder and double click the setup.exe file. The Job Pointer Setup will start and prompt you with further instructions.

The default installation location for Job Pointer is C://Program Files/Job Pointer. (The installation setup gives you the option to save the program elsewhere.)

After you have successfully installed the Job Pointer software, you may delete the folder you created to save the setup files.

NOTE: Some distribution archive sites require software be distributed without Visual Basic runtime files. If the zip file you downloaded is called job200nr.zip, it does not include the VB 6 runtimes that are required for Job Pointer. You must already have these files installed on your Windows system or you will need to download and install them separately. Please see the archive where you downloaded Job Pointer for more information.

The VB6 runtime files needed for this program can be found at this URL:
	http://www.simtel.net/simtel.net/win95/dll.html
The listing is: simvb6-5.zip 1.5M VB6 Runtime Modules (Simtel). Self-installing 24-Jun-99.

5.	UNINSTALLING JOB POINTER
To uninstall Job Pointer, open the Add/Remove Programs control panel. You can access the Control Panel from the Start Menu under Settings or find it in My Computer on your desktop. After opening Add/Remove Programs, scroll down the list of program files until you find Job Pointer. Click once on it to select it, then click the Remove button.

6.	PURCHASING JOB POINTER
At this time, Job Pointer can only be purchased using Mastercard or Visa credit cards.

Buying the fully enabled Job Pointer is easy. Job Pointer uses J. River Inc.'s Buy Button technology for its purchase process.

After installing Job Pointer, go to the Help menu and select "Register Your Pointer." Select and click on the Buy Job Pointer item. A purchase information form will appear. Complete the form and follow the steps. Your credit card information is encrypted and securely transmitted to J River Inc.'s secure authorization server. Upon approval of your credit card, Job Pointer is fully enabled.

7.	SAVING YOUR REGISTRATION INFORMATION
You should save your registration information when prompted by the Buy Button. You should back this file up to a secure medium such as a floppy diskette. You should NOT store this file in a publicly accessible space such as a shared computer, network drive or an internet server. (If you are purchasing Job Pointer when using a publicly accessible computer, copy the file onto a floppy diskette and then delete it from the hard drive.) This file contains your credit card information and although it is encrypted, making it public is not wise.

8.	HELP
Complete help documentation is installed with Job Pointer v2. This help "file" is a set of html documents that can be viewed with your web browser. You can access them from the Help menu by selecting "Help Topics." More help is available online at http://jobpointer.com/help/ .
