New features, enhancements and bug fixes
----------------------------------------
(see the on-line help for a complete list)

Version 1.0 - December 1998
---------------------------
First release.

Features
--------

> Source document recording. Each field in a person or family data form has
a button which lets you record a source reference for that field. The
reference points to a page in a source document and the document points to
a repository where the document is kept.
> Web page production. Completely automatic; all you have to do is upload
the files to your Web site.
> SQL queries (Structured Query Language) for searching and producing custom
  list reports and text files.
> Unlimited user-defined fields in both people and families. You can choose
the field type; string, date, etc.
> Almost unlimited storage. 2,100 million of any one record type in any
  tree.
> Full GEDCOM V5.5 implementation. Registered with the LDS for Ancestral
  File and TempleReady submissions.
> Multiple pictures can be associated with people or families. Pictures are
stored in individual files to keep the database file-size down. Pictures
can be included in Details reports and Web files.
> OLE objects can be associated with people or families. This allows you to
store multi-media items such as video or sounds.
> Duplicate record searching/removal assistance. If you regularly import or
merge data with your existing trees, Kith and Kin Pro will help you
identify, merge and remove duplicated records.
> Multiple notes for each person/family. Each note allows 30,000 characters
and you can have as many notes as you want. Give each note a description
to help you find it and a privacy level to let you control when it gets
  printed or exported.
> Data form edit fields pick lists. Right-click on, say, a "Place" field in
a person or family data form and a list of the places which you have
already used pops up. You just pick the one you want to get it entered
into the field with no typing.

Differences between Kith and Kin Pro / Kith and Kin
---------------------------------------------------

> Each family tree is stored in a relational database instead of a single
.TRE file. The family tree "name" is actually the name of the directory
that the database is stored in.
> Kith and Kin Pro opens the last used family tree automatically on
  start-up.
> Multiple notes have replaced external notes files.
> Pictures have taken over from OLE objects. Although you can still use OLE
objects for storing multi-media clips, you can no longer include them in
reports. Using picture files cuts down on the database size and allows you
to export pictures to your Web pages.
> Improved Tree Area Control. The scrollbars have been replaced with a
control ball which lets you follow the diagonal link lines precisely.
> Improved print preview. Scroll forwards and backwards, print selected
pages, copy as metafiles to the clipboard.
> Extract and merge data without having to go through GEDCOM.
> Upper case surnames can be overridden. Handy for the occasional "Mc" or
  "Mac".
> Children and marriages manual sorting is now done by just dragging the
entries to the new position in the list.
> The Tree Area display can now be turned off. Useful for large or temporary
trees or where you are importing a GEDCOM file which you are not going to
  arrange on the screen.
> The family summary (right-click on a family rectangle) lets you open any
of the member peoples' data forms directly.
> The Timeline Window lets you open the family or person data forms
  directly.
> Deleting a family gives you the option of deleting the parents and/or
  children as well.
> Customise the Tree Area colours.
