TypeProf 95

1) Installation

Put the program and the help file to any folder on your hard disk.
You can start the program by double-clicking the program icon.
You can add TypeProf to the Start-menu with command
Start:Settings:Taskbar...:Start Menu Programs:Add

The program has been tested with Windows 95 and NT 4.0. It should
probably run also on Windows 98.

2) Using TypeProf

Start the program by double-clicking the program icon. Start the first
lesson by selecting 1 on the Lesson menu. Type the text you see on the
display; the red letter is the one you should be currently pressing.
When you can type that fluently, select next phase from the Phase menu.

If you know how to type but want to improve your speed, use the Practice
menu commands. "Words" and "Sentences" need a plain text example file.
If you have been typing some document using, for example, Microsoft
Word, you can save it in correct format with File:Save as... command and
selecting "text only" mode. Of course, you can also use this file.

Save the example file and options settings using Options:Save.

The program keeps track on the errors you make. After some practicing it
may be useful to select Practice:Problem keys.

3) Bugs

Hopefully not too much. With fonts you may see a jittering on the line
you are typing. Try selecting another font,
for example Courier or Arial.

If the text does not fit in the window, increase the window size,
decrease the font size using Options:Font, or select shorter examples
using Options:Lengths.

4) Copyright

The program is free for private use. You can also distribute it freely,
even ask money for it, but you must tell the customers that he could get
it for free from Internet.

If you want to use the program commercially, ask permit from the author.

5) Warranty

None.
