Welcome to Postage $aver v4.2.10 for Windows!

To find out if this is the latest version, and to get other information about bulk mailing, check out our web site at http://savepostage.com.

Here's what's new for v4.2.10:

Corrected an inaccurate error message.
Corrected bug that sometimes prevented Postage $aver from finding its Help file.

Here's what's new for v4.2.9:

Fixed bug that affected some ascii files.

Here's what's new for v4.2.8:

Postal sorting lists updated with changes required by January, 2000.

Postage $aver now adds tray numbers, package numbers and endorsement lines directly to Access, dBase, Act! and ascii files.

Field selection has been simplified, with drop-down lists replacing the field grid.

All reports can be printed at once when the print dialog appears after sorting.

Postage $aver can now be run from the command line.

The option to sort multiple files at once has been deleted, as this option makes little sense now that sorting information is placed directly into the data base files.

A bug was fixed that caused some records in some Access files to be missed, and others to be counted more than once.

Postage $aver can be run from within with MailTracker 3.0 by idataSoft.

The print dialog has been redesigned to eliminate an erroneous display of 10000 pages to print.

Here's what's new for v4.2.7:

Postage $aver now reads Access 2000 files.

Here's what's new for v4.2.6:

Postal sorting lists updated with changes effective October, 1999.

Improved flipping envelope graphic.

Here's what's new for v4.2.5:

Postal sorting lists updated with changes effective July, 1999.

Labelling changes on the Bulk Mail Sort Report in accordance with changes in postal mailing statements.

Corrected precision error in periodical postage calculations.

Corrected bug that caused crash when rounding caused all pounds to be considered advertising pounds in periodical rate chart.

Eliminated crashes due to completely empty fields (fields without quotes) in comma-separated ascii input files.

Here's what's new for v4.2.3 and v4.2.4:

AUTOMATIC SORTING OF ACCESS FILES

Postage $aver will now read Microsoft Access files without exporting, and will save sort sequence information and OELs directly into the files. You must first set up appropriate fields for Postage $aver to write to. See the Help file. (You must have a licensed copy of Access, Office or a similar Microsoft product on your machine for this function to operate properly.)

POSTAGE $AVER NOW CREATES SORTED MERGE FILES

Postage $aver will now take an ascii file that you export and create a sorted version of the file in presort order. So you can export your merge information to Postage $aver (complete with all fields for your mailing label, including name, address, etc.), then take the Postage $aver output file and merge it into your word processor. The header line, which was missing in the previous release, has been added. See the Help file.

POSTAGE $AVER NOW HANDLES PERIODICAL CLASS LETTERS & FLATS!

We have had many requests for this feature, and we hope you like it. We've even included in-county rates. If you are using periodical class sorting, be sure to see the Help file for the special set-up instructions. An error that occurred on periodical mailings over a certain weight has been corrected.

NEW SORT WIZARD AND EXPANDED HELP SCREENS

The easiest way to sort. Just choose the Sort Wizard from the Sort menu and you will walk through the settings screens and on to sorting. Also, detailed help information has been added to each of the settings screens.

PACKAGES NOW SPLIT AT 5"

Postage $aver now automatically splits packages at 5", rather than putting all pieces for a given package sort into one large package. This makes your preparation even easier.

FULL 32-BIT WINDOWS SUPPORT

Postage $aver is now a full Windows 95/98/NT compatible product. If you are still using Windows 3.1, you cannot upgrade to this version of Postage $aver. Please contact us for upgrade files for your existing registered version of Postage $aver if you have not upgraded to Windows 95/98.

OPTIONAL ENDORSEMENT LINES NOT PROVIDED FOR AUTO MAILINGS

The specification for optional endorsement lines on automated and upgradable mailings is currently under review by the USPS. Until they come to a clear conclusion on what these lines should say, Postage $aver will not provide such lines for auto and upgradable mailings, as it is better not to use the lines then to have a postal clerk think that the lines you have used are incorrect. Note that the USPS does not require "D" stickers (or others) on these types of mailings either, so leaving off the OELs will not require you to use stickers in their place.

BUG CORRECTIONS:

Fixed bug that prevented sequence number file from being created.
Fixed bug that caused a crash when weight was blank.
Fixed bug that caused some files with blank entries not to read properly.
Fixed bug that caused periodical sorts to fail when weight was over standard A weight break.
Fixed bug that allowed only 5 Access tables to be shown at once in the table selection box.
