1. Purpose And Usage

loggling for Win32 is a viewer for HTTP server logfiles (CLF - Common
Logfile Format and ECLF - Extended CLF). Additionally, it provides
statistical charts and filters on the most important properties of the
log entries, allowing you a detailed and precise analysis of your
website visitors. It's best for websites of lower popularity (less than
1.000 visitors each day).

Attention: Since the program loads a file completely into memory,
viewing logfiles larger than the available physical memory is not
recommended, because hard disk swapping would make the process very
slow. Viewing files larger than the complete available system memory is
not possible.

The screens in particular:

- Days: Number of visitors (teal) and data transfer (gray) for each day.
- Items: Number of completed (teal) and canceled (gray) transfers for
each item that has been accessed.
- Referers (ECLF logfiles only): The sites your website was referred
from - sorted by domain and frequency.
- Visitor History: The complete logfile, grouped by supposed visitors.
Accesses from the same host, which do not pause for more than 20
minutes are considered to be from the same visitor.
Pictures and error accesses are not listed.
- Filters/Options: Only visitors which have at least one conforming
access for each of the filters appear in the statistics and in the
Visitor History. The filters have a rudimentary support of regular
expressions: you may use one(!) "*" character as a joker.
If you change the website domain or the default document name you must
reload the logfile to make the changes take effect.

There are two types of icons in the beginning of some lines:

- Copy (ECLF logfiles only): Copy this to clipboard.
- Filter: Focus analysis on this. New statistics and Visitor History
are created where only concernded visitors appear again.

You will probably notice that this program calls itself a beta version
at the info screen. That's because it once was intended to be a beta
version. Unfortionately, I lost the sources of the program during the
beta phase, so there will never be another version than this one (except
I make it completely new someday). But the program seems to work fine.
The only problem is that it does not work with incorrect logfiles,
sometimes even if they only contain one little error. That's why I
bundled loggling with the Logfile Cutting Tool (see "LCT.txt"). This
program comes with an option to use it as a kind of preprocessor for
loggling. You shouldn't experience problems with loggling when viewing
logfiles made with the "loggling safe" option of the Logfile Cutting
Tool. However, please don't ask for changes...

2. Installation/Deinstallation

Attention: The program requires a screen resolution of not less than
800x600 (1024x768 recommended).

After you have unpacked the ZIP-Archive, the program is ready for use.
If you want to incorporate the program into the Start Menu, it has to be
done manually. To uninstall, simply delete the two loggling.* files. The
program does not change the Windows system directory.
