Using a <i>non-U.S. English</i> keyboard?

If so, this will be a vital note. EWriter, by default, produces
plain (ascii) text, character codes from 0 to 127. Use the
Alt+NumPad# for a number over 0127 and nothing happens. If you type
on that non-U.S. English keyboard, you may think your language
is not supported. However, on the Edit menu you will find two
items that activate the 128-255 character codes. One causes them to
be typed as characters and the other causes them to be typed as
html/xml escape codes. Starting with 0.Cb, the chosen setting is
persistent between sessions if you save settings.

When unzipping ewriter.zip

There has never been (and will never be) any need to install or
uninstall eWriter. EWriter will never write to your registry or to
any ini, cfg or set file it has not generated. All you have had to
do was unzip ewriter.zip in the directory in which you wanted to
keep eWriter.

Starting with eWriter 0.Cb (zero point twelve-b), you must expend
just a little more effort. If you set up <b>c:\ewriter</b> as your
directory and unzip ewriter.zip into it, you will see a zip file
named ehelp.zip. The file is for a frameset ebook and to keep from
flooding the ewriter directory with htm files, you put that extra
effort into creating a sub-directory named <b>ehelp</b>. Unzip the
ebook into that directory.

When you open eWriter, one of your first pencil-sharpening tasks
will be to go to the Tools menu and put at least one browser into
Tools/Browsers. You may use Tools/Pathfinder to find a browser and
transfer its path\file into the Browsers selection box. (When you
close eWriter after the session, be sure to Save Settings.)

Then, go to the Help menu. Click eWriter's eHelp and enter this
path\file into the input box:

   c:\ewriter\ehelp\ehelp.htm

Remember to Save Settings when you close eWriter, but first, click
on Getting eWriter Ready for some more pencil sharpening advice.
