Silver Wolf Task Manager (SWTM) August 24, 1996
Version 1.0 beta 3

INTRODUCTION
------------

The Silver Wolf Task Manager (SWTM) for Windows
provides a complete Windows/Modules/Task manager
for Windows. No need to restart Windows or reboot your
system in order to bring down a frozen task, or remove
an unused module/DLL from memory! Use it to recover
from other applications' errant behaviors. Developers
use SWTM to easily obtain detailed information about
the running windows, tasks, and modules.

Note: This is a beta test version. Please alert me of any
problems, errors, bugs, etc you have found. Thank you!

GETTING STARTED
---------------

Unzip or copy the files in this release into a new directory
(eg: C:\SWTM).

Files included in this distribution are:
SWTM.EXE 485568
SWTM.INI 565
SWTM.HLP 203399
README.TXT 8464
SWTM.HTM 1819
DDEML.DLL 39424
DESC.SDI 38
FILE_ID.DIZ 383
VENDINFO.DIZ 16494
VENDOR.TXT 216

SWTM may be used to replace the default Windows Task
Manager (TASKMAN.EXE) or as a separate autonomous
application. To use as a simple autonomous application,
either run from Program Manager (File, Run, choose SWTM.EXE),
or from the File Manager, or create an icon in a Program
Manager Group for SWTM.EXE and run by double-clicking the
icon.

To create a new icon in Program Manager, select 'File - New'
from Program Manager's menu bar. Here you have the option of
creating a new group or a new icon (within an existing group).
Create a new group by choosing 'group', clicking OK, and then
name the new group (eq. Silver Wolf Applications).
To create a new icon for SWTM, select 'File - New' from
the menu bar again, choose 'icon' this time, click OK, then
enter 'Silver Wolf Task Manager' into the Description field,
and Browse in your directory structure for the SWTM.EXE file.
Click OK and a new icon will be created in the selected group.

Registered users have the option of using the Silver Wolf
Task Manager as the default task manager in Windows. With this
option, Autoloading (start SWTM when Windows starts up), and
a quick start (Hide when minimized) are both given as choices.
Find these choices by clicking on the 'options' tab in the
main SWTM window.

When the Silver Wolf Task Manager is used as Windows' default
task manager, SWTM comes up when double-clicking on the
empty desktop, or by pressing Ctrl-ESC.

LICENSE & REGISTRATION

The Silver Wolf Task Manager (SWTM) is not free and if
not being placed into the Public Domain. This fully
functional evaluation package is being provided to give
you the opportunity to see if and how the Silver Wolf
Task Manager can work for you.

The complete license is found in the VENDINFO.DIZ file
as well as in the SWTM Help.
Essentially you can use SWTM for 21 days to evaluate how
it works for you. After that point you need to register to
continue using the software legally.

=================================================================
DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try
software before buying it. If you try a Shareware program
and continue using it, you are expected to register.
Individual programs differ on details -- some request
registration while others require it, some specify a
maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything
from the simple right to continue using the software to
an updated program with printed manual.

Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial
software, and the copyright holder retains all rights,
with a few specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware
authors are accomplished programmers, just like commercial
authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In
both cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main
difference is in the method of distribution. The author
specifically grants the right to copy and distribute the
software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group.
For example, some authors require written permission before
a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.
You should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system
makes fitting your needs easier, because you can try before
you buy. And because the overhead is low, prices are low
also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee --
if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.
