Description:

Switch default options in multi-boot menu. Right click the tray icon to access menu of options, then left (double) click tray icon to reboot. Command line options supported: "/z" (zero timeout), "/n" (infinite timeout), "/s" (short timeout of five seconds), "/d" (double click to reboot), "/f" (force reboot).
Only suitable if you use the Windows NT boot menu loader. Supports up to ten boot menu OS's. Tiny program (44k), needs no additional dll's. Can be used with Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT 5.0/Windows 2000.

Install/Uninstall:

Small download:

Unzip all into a directory of choice (e.g. "C:\windows\temp"). Find that directory in Explorer, then right click on BSwitch.inf (the "setup" file), and choose "Install". To uninstall, choose "Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel.

Large download:

To install, simply run "bssetup.exe". To uninstall, use the icon in the "Pete's Tools" group,
or choose "Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel.

Additional info:

The "zero timeout", "infinite timeout" and "short timeout" options are mutually exclusive; you can use either one of them or none, in which case the timeout defaults to the original value (as set through control panel).

The "save settings" option will NOT save the chosen boot option to the registry; instead, this option is saved straight away to "boot.ini". Only the flags (zero/infinite/short timeout, force, double click) are saved to the registry.

The commandline takes precedence over any registry settings. If you start Switch and don't specify any options, it will take it's options from the registry, if there are any previously saved settings. If you do specify options on the commandline any previously saved settings (if present) will be ignored.

Version changes:

Version 1.2:

Added the "Manually Edit Boot File Menu" option at user's request.

PLEASE NOTE:

This program edits "boot.ini" through the Windows API. It is reasonably safe -- you can always use the 'backup' and 'restore' options -- but if you are not comfortable with this, DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM. Use entirely AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am not responsible if it screws up your system.
