                            DOOM Level Manager 1.1
                                for Windows 95

FREEWARE shell for playing DOOM, DOOM2 and HERETIC levels.

Brief explanation:

- multi-level selecting
- LMP selecting
- BAT executing
- MAP scaning + WARP
- skill choosing
- ZIP support
- TXT support
- DEHACKED patches supported

Detailled explanation:

Actually, this program composes command-line for executing one of the
supported games. You can select what WAD you want to play, what demo you
want to see, what DEHACKED patch to use or simply what batch to RUN.

When opening a WAD file DLM will analyze the file and choose what game the
WAD is for and what levels are in the WAD. If the WAD file is just a
graphic or a sound patch you can select the game by clicking on the
  right "SETUP RADIO BUTTON".

You can select multiple WAD and LMP files.

You can drag-n-drop files to DLM from the EXPLORER, WinZIP...

Selecting a LMP file will add a PLAYDEMO parameter to the command line but
DLM will not care what WAD the demo uses! You can only add one LMP file
(DOOM wants it) and if it isn't in the game directory it will be copied to
it (without overwriting other files) and erased when you exit the program.
This is because DOOM doesn't want to work with LMP's from other
  directories.

BAT files will be executed directly. Be carefull with the various
installation BAT files because they leave a lot of crap in the game
  directory.

Windows 95 will create PIF file for all DOS programs executing from DLM
(the games, BAT files, DEHACKED, PKUNZIP ...). You can edit these file
to suit your needs. Problem raises when using BAT files - their PIFs wont
be deleted. PIFs may be found in the game directory or in the WINDOWS/PIF
  directory.

ZIP files are supported because I like to keep my WADs in their original
ZIP file. If you open a ZIP file it is unzipped in the directory
"WINDOWS/TEMP/DLMTEMP" and the files are copied WITHOUT overwriting in the
current game directory. You will see the contents of the ZIP file in a
listbox. When program exits it erases all files in that directory
including the directory DLMTEMP. It also erases files successfuly (only)
copied to the game directory. You select a WAD from the ZIP file by
doubleclicking on it in the listbox. If you click other then WAD, LMP, BAT
or DEH files they will be proceded to the system's associated application
so you can view TXT file just by clicking on it.

  DLM uses PKUNZIP 2.04g.

If you use DEHACKED patches you must define the DEHACKED executable file
  (e.g. DOOMHACK).

Another thing: If you get (or already are) annoyed with pressing the ENTER
key when DOOM starts, make this BAT file in your game directory and use it
  as your executable for DOOM/DOOM2:

  --DOOM2.BAT---------------------------------------------------------------

  echo. |doom2.exe %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9

  --------------------------------------------------------------------------

"CLEAR" button clears the selected executable and the command line.

"CLEAR ALL" button clears the selected executable, the command line
  and erases unzipped files.

"SAVE" button writes the command line to WIN.INI for future use.

"FORCE HERETIC" checkbox is there because there is no differernce between
DOOM1 and HERETIC WAD file format. DLM will find that all such WADs are
for DOOM1 and this is the only way I could think of to play a HERETIC WAD.

All information will be written to WIN.INI.

Thats all - future will bring the use of Registry, right mouse button and
maybe HEXEN/QUAKE support. Please e-mail me about any bug you find.

I'd like to give credit to Joshua Jackson for his DOOM Hacker's Toolkit
v1.0 where I found the WAD directory info.
