Appoint is there to remind you of appointments and birthdays some days
ahead. Appoint needs MS-Windows version 3.1 or a compatible environment. It
can handle dates from Jan 1, 1901 through Dec 31, 2099.

  INSTALLATION

The Appoint application as distributed consists of four files:
    APPOINT.EXE The executable program
    APPOINT.HLP The on-line Help file
    APPOINT.TXT An example Data file
README.TXT The text you are reading now.

You install the program by copying these files to a directory of your hard
disk. APPOINT.EXE and APPOINT.HLP must be in the same directory.
APPOINT.TXT may be in the same or any other directory available at
run-time. Then you add an entry for Appoint to a Program Manager group and
preferrably to the Startup group as well. Specify the directory where
APPOINT.TXT is located as the home directory.

Now run the program and choose the <File|Open> menu command, specifying the
APPOINT.TXT data file. Then choose <Options|Set..> to open the options
dialog and verify the correct name and location of the text editor you want
to use to modify the data file. Save the options by clicking the <Save Now>
button, then close the options dialog by clicking the <OK> button. You are
now ready to enter your own appointments into the data file by choosing the
  <File|Edit> menu command.

  THE APPOINT.INI FILE

The options you specify in the options dialog, as well as the position and
size of the main application window are saved in a file named APPOINT.INI
which is stored in the same directory as APPOINT.EXE. It has the structure
of an application-specific Windows INI file.

As this file is automatically created and maintained it is not recommended
  you edit its contents manually.
