Documentation:
**************
The usage of KD is similar to RD (remove directory) that comes with DOS.
The difference is that KD will remove automatically all sub-directories
and files that reside under the specified directory.

Usage:
     KD <directory> [/W] [/Q] [/D]

<directory> is the name of the directory to kill
[/W] turns on DOD security wipe - files are overwritten
[/Q] enables quiet mode - screen output is turned off
[/D] don't require verification before deleting directory

KD will automatically detect any hidden, system, or read-only files and
change their attributes so they can be deleted.

Recovery:
*********
In the event you accidentally issue the KD command on a directory you
wanted to keep, immediately use Norton Utilities, PC Tools, or some other
good utility to undelete the subdirectory tree. Once the sub-directory
information is overwritten, you're going to have a really bad day trying
to recover the files kept there. If you are unfamiliar with undeleting
sub-directories, get help from an experienced technician. One slip and
your files are toast.

Wipe:
*****
For the security conscious, there is a file wipe feature built into KD.
Include the [/W] switch after the directory name, and KD will fully wipe
all files before deleting them. On large files, this may take a long
time, due to the method used to wipe the files. KD overwrites every byte
of each file with 0's then 1's. It repeats this process three times, and
then overwrites the file once more with a random alpha-numeric sequence.
This complies with U.S. Department Of Defense requirements for security
in file erasure. As this is a very slow process in comparison with the
default mode of KD, it is recommended that you only use it where data
security is a great concern. Remember: Once a directory is removed in
this fashion there will be NO WAY to recover your data, so think care-
fully before invoking the [/W] switch!

Output:
*******
Unless you use the /Q (quiet) switch, KD informs you as it changes file
attributes, erases files, and removes directories. When finished, it
lists totals for files and directories that no longer exist.

Thanks for using KD. I hope it simplifies your file maintenance. If
you have any suggestions or comments feel free to contact me at the
e-mail address above.
