Overview:

Deadlink finder is a handy utility to get rid of the clutter that is
left behind in the startmenu after uninstalling programs by hand or
removing programs that don't have a uninstall feature that takes care
of removing shortcuts.

Installing:

To keep the distribution file as small as possible, this program has no
setup.Just unzip dlnkfree.zip to any place you like.

NOTE: DEADLINK FINDER NEEDS THE VISUAL BASIC 5.0 RUNTIME FILES TO RUN !

Deadlink Finder was programmed in Visual Basic 5.0.

Visual Basic programs, like Deadlink Finder, are not "stand alone" programs.
Like Deadlink Finder, they need the Visual Basic runtime files to work. If
you don't know if you have these files, then just try to run Deadlink Finder
If a message appears about a missing ".dll" you must first
download the VB5 runtime files from any major shareware site, e.g.,
www.microsoft.com, or from the Orca Software website at:
http://www.horizon.nl/~rvosta.

Running:

Doubleclick the dlnkfree icon to run Deadlink Finder.

There is only one option you can change: Check local harddisks only.
With this option enabled Deadlink Finder will only report on shortcuts
that are linked to files on one of the local harddisks .
This is the default setting. If you disable this option Deadlink Finder
will report every shortcut that points to a file that isn't available.

NOTE:	With the option disabled not every found dead link means that this
	is actually a BAD link.
e.g: If you installed a program that runs from CD but the CD is not
in the cdrom drive at the moment you run Deadlink Finder it will be
reported as a dead link because it cannot locate the file on the CD.

If you are happy with your setting click "GO".
If a deadlink is found a messagebox will popup asking you want you want to
do with the shortcut in question, click "yes" to delete it, "no" to skip it.

Why should I register?

Altough this freeware version of Deadlink Finder is fully functional there
is one drawback.
After deleting all shortcuts from a folder you will still have an empty
folder in your StartMenu.
If you register you will get the Full version of this program that also
takes care of left behind folders in the same way it finds dead links.
