Explanatory text accompanying Deva's CIA, Version 1.00 [a collectors item]

Hello friends and welcome to the First Edition of Deva's CIA
(Computer Industry Acronyms). I hope you will use and enjoy it
and also become future co-authors of the list. Here's how it works.

        What it is:

The list is not meant to be a dictionary (obviously, no definitions)
but merely a quick list of meanings, which in most cases is enough
to point you in the right direction.

The list, at the moment, is heavily weighted in the areas of CAD
(Computer Aided Design), PC (Personal Computer) hardware and
networking, which are my areas of interest. I hope you will
help to expand this list to include other appropriate computer
        industry related areas.

In order to keep the list manageable, I have kept to acronyms that
have general industry recognition and for the most part stayed
away from application-specific acronyms, application or OS (Operating
System) commands, file extensions, too many telecommunications
acronyms, advertising lingo, little known weird stuff, etc.

This list is free but I take no responsibility for any errors
(spelling, definition, or any other) or discrepancies of meaning or
any other problems that may occur from using the list as a reference.
I have done my best to make it accurate but even the people who
coined some of these acronyms don't agree on their exact origin
or meaning, so this is only meant as an informal reference and not
        a difinative work.

        How it works:

To make suggestions or send additions to the official list, please
send the info to me, in ASCII (text) in the same format as the list,
but with short explanatons as to what they mean (this is important
for my clarification), by e-mail message (no executable files,
        please) to:

        E-mail address: 100255.1135@compuserve.com

Or a typed list (no files on floppies, please) to:

                         David Deva Goldberg

                         Germany

The list (dciaXXX.txt) is a pure ASCII file compiled on
MS-DOS6.2 Editor so should be easy to manipulate in all applications.
If you're a Windows fan, you can keep it in the clipboard in the
back-ground or use the default PIF to create an icon mounted window.

Keep your eyes open for further developments such as a similar file
which includes short definitions, possible additional files for
special interest areas, a Windows search utility specifically
        designed for Deva's CIA.

I hope you find this useful.

                                For now,

                                        Deva
