VQFList version 2.0 Readme.txt
http://www.vqf.com/

This document is the one and only help file for VQFList version 2.0. Maximize notepad to view this!!

What it does:
VQFList generates playlist files that are used by the "official" VQF players.

General use:
Browse through your directories, drives, etc. in the listings on the left, and select files to be placed
in the list (which is seen on the righthand side). To add a file to the list, you can either double
click the file (for single additions), or select multiple files (click, hold down, and drag up or down
in the list), then "drag" the selected names to the righthand list. Click the 'Save' button to save the
list as a .VQL file, which is playable by your player. Or, just click the 'Play' button to launch the
list (by default, it will be saved in a temporary file)

Other features:

1. Move up/down: To change the order of the files in the working list, click on the file in the
righthand pane once, then select the up or down buttons on the toolbar to move it (duh) up or down.

2. Delete: This simply removes the file from the list (button that looks like an X).

3. Shuffle: This randomly shuffles the files in the list. You can hit it as many times as you like if
you do not like the way the shuffling turned out (button that looks like a curvey arrow).

4. Sort: These sort the files in the working list by their name (see options section), in either an
ascending or descending fashion.

Options:

To get to the options menu, click the rightmost button in the list, or select 'Options' from the 'Settings' menu.

1. Only show .VQF files in listing: I don't know why you'd want to, but if you really do, you can add
.exe or .anything files to your list (I don't think the player handles this very well, though).

2. Show full path in the playlist: This is only for your viewing pleasure. :-) In the righthand pane,
the entire path (ex: c:\vqf\mysong.vqf) is shown by default. However, if you uncheck this box, you
will only see the main part of the filename. It will strip off the directory path, as well as the .vqf
extension (in the example above, only "mysong" would be shown). Please note, however, that when you
save the list, the full path is still saved; the player cannot play with only the name.

3. When sorting, sort by filename (not full path): This is somewhat difficult to explain. Take this
example. Here are your files:

  c:\vqf\abc.vqf
  c:\vqf\def.vqf
  d:\ghi.vqf
  d:\abracadabra.vqf

If you have this box checked, it should sort as expected (full path not shown):

  abc.vqf
  abracadabra.vqf
  def.vqf
  ghi.vqf

If you do not, however, it will yield to strange results (if you have the 'show full path in playlist
  turned off'):

  abc.vqf
  def.vqf
  abracadabra.vqf
  ghi.vqf

Why is this? This is because that technically, c:\def.vqf is alphabetically lower than
d:\abracadabra.vqf (since c is before d). As you can see, if you uncheck both the 'show full path'
and the 'sort by filename only' boxes, you might be a bit confused with the results ;-)

4. When loading saved lists, display an error if song files do not exist: This feature will warn you if you are loading an older list that references files that are not on your computer any more. Don't worry, you still have the option to keep it in the list.

Version history:

0.1:
  First version
  Add files
  Move up/down
  Delete

1.0:
  Sorting (ascending, descending, shuffling)
  A few options

2.0:
  Added one-click play
Nifty link to vqf.com in the about box
Option to have it prompt to save when clicking play and the file has not been saved in the past
(otherwise, it is saved to a temp. file)
  Fixed: Minor inconsistancies....
The window is now resizable. Please report any bugs related to this.

Future plans:
Automatic shuffle on play (ala ShufflePlay)
  Anything else?
