SOUNDPAD 1.0 - Released September 22th 1999

A program for textual transcription of everything played by Winamp, including song's lyrics,  opera's "libretti", language courses, tape recorded lectures or notes (previously converted into wav or mp3 files). Thanks to Winamp's support and Soundpad's Play_mode is also possible to get a great karaoke program.

REQUIREMENTS
	
1 - Windows95/98/NT

2 -	a sound card
	(an input record cable -jack to jack- is needed to acquire any tape registration by connecting tape headphone output to saund card microphone input)

3 - program Winamp downloaded from http://www.winamp.com
	(A popular, fast, flexible high-fidelity music player for Windows 95/98/NT. Winamp support MP3 and MP2 audio with it's native Nitrane high-performance decoder as well as CD-audio, MOD, S3M, IT, XM and even SID audio formats. Winamp supports more than 3000 interface 'skins', 300 visualization plug-ins and CDDB for automatic CD audio title listing)

PREFERENCES

Let you specify :

- winamp's location 
- font's name, foreground and background color in Edit and Play mode.
- disable Edit_mode; usefult to avoid not desired text modifications.
- time-marker's couples delimiters and color.
- the short_cuts to assign to the actions.

ACTIONS LIST

All the actions are available in Edit_mode; the actions available in Play_mode are showed with 'P' character. 'M' character means that the actions can be applied using the mouse, a 'K' with the keyboard. On the right of the action-name is showed the default shortcut when available.
Read PREFERENCES in the previous section to view the list of changeable shortcuts.

P M K	Play 	(Alt_enter or Alt_Z)
			starts the reproduction from selected or previous time-marker
	
P M K	Pause	(Alt_grey_slash or Alt_X)
			pauses/unpauses the reproduction
	
P M K	Stop	(Alt_grey_asterisk or Alt_C)
			stops the reproduction
	
P   K	Skip_back/Skip_forward	(Alt_LeftArrow/Alt_RightArrow)
			during the reproduction(on pause also) rewinds/forwards according with the value set in the preferences
	
P M K	Previous_tag/Next_tag	(Alt_UpArrow/Alt_DownArrow
			set the selection at the previous/next time-marker modifying the current reproduction.
	
  M K	Insert_tag	(Alt_Ins or Alt_I)
			insert a time-marker at the cursor position
				
  M K	Remove_tag	(Alt_Canc o Alt_R)
			remove the selected (or strictly previous) time-marker
	
  M K	Increase_tag/Decrease_tag	(Alt_grey_plus/Alt_P or Alt_grey_minus/Alt_M)
			increase/decrease current (if selected) or previous time-marker value by one second starting the reproduction from here
	
    K	Play_Pause 	(F1)
			similar to Pause but..
			- if pausing reproduction..
				starts the reproduction and inserts a time-marker at the cursor position (equal to Play+Insert_tag)
			- if during reproduction..
				pauses the reproduction (equal to Pause)
			This action (as the next one) was thought to Soundpad recorded lectures or notes.

    K	Back_Play 	(F2)
			acts like Previous_tag during reproduction, but starts the reproduction anyway.

P M		Previous_track/Next_track
			selects previous/next track from playlist in Winamp and loads the corresponding text into Soundpad; if this one is missing, prepares its input by setting the new document name according to the playing track.

P M		Edit_mode/Play_mode
			switches to the selected mode: in Edit_mode is possible to edit text and time-markers, in Play_mode instead is only admitted to pilot the reproduction.

P M		Volume
			to vary the volume level.

P M		Full_screen
			switches between full_screen and window_mode

P M		Syncronize_Winamp
			synchronizes text automatic loading according to Winamp track changes. This setting is useful for karaoke use of Soundpad.

P M		Winamp
			starts Winamp .

NOTE

Time-markers have the form [MM:SS], i.e. time resolution is equal to 1 second. If you need a time precision of half a second, you have manually to add it, for example: [03:12.5]
