SayWhat Lyrics Displayer - Version 1
Readme file - September 25th, 1999
------------------------------------

SayWhat is a lyrics displayer for Winamp: it will display the lyrics of
the song Winamp is currently playing (normally a MP3 file or a CD Track).

Help us improve the program with your suggestions, bug-reports and comments
(send them to saywhat@saywhat.freehosting.net).

Check for new versions on our web-site: http://welcome.to/SayWhat

1. Files included

The file saywhat.zip includes the following files:
  saywhat.exe: the program file
readme.txt: this file in plain text format.
Natalie Inbruglia - Torn.mp3: a example song. Please read the note about
  the example song.
Natalie Inbruglia - Torn.txt: lyrics for the example song. Please read
the note about the example song and its lyrics.

2. Installation

Unzip the saywhat.zip file you have downloaded and copy the saywhat.exe
file wherever you want.

To use the "Autostart when Winamp starts" and "Autoclose when Winamp is
closed" options, you must copy the GEN_SAYWHAT.DLL file to the "Plugins"
directory of Winamp.

3. Uninstallation

Just delete the saywhat.exe and gen_saywhat.dll files.
The program creates a Windows registry key to store its configuration. The
key is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SayWhat and it can safely be deleted,
although nothing happens if you don't.

4. Execution

Run saywhat.exe by double-clicking on it. If you want to see it in action,
you must also start Winamp and play a song with lyrics (try the example
song).

You can drag the window or use the right button of your mouse to change
SayWhat to any of its different window-modes: floating normal, floating
compact (without title bar), docked on top or docked on bottom. You can
also set different options for the window (always on top, autohide).

You can also use the right button of your mouse to select the different
styles for the lyrics displayer: right to left, bottom up, bottom up
without scroll or two columns.

In the "Preferences" window you will be able to set different options for
the program: colors, directory to search for lyrics, ect.

Finally, use the right button of the mouse and the Close option to close
the program.

5. Information about lyrics files

Lyrics files are standard ASCII text files with TXT or LRC extensions
(have a look at the example file, "Natalie Inbruglia - Torn.txt"). SayWhat
will look for a TXT or LRC file with the same name as the MP3 file Winamp
is currently playing. First it will search in the same directory as the
MP3 file, and then in the "Lyrics Directory" set in the Preferences
dialog. If it doesn't find any lyrics, SayWhat will display a "No lyrics
found" notice.

You can easily create lyrics files using a standard editor (Notepad, for
example), although there are several tools which make the task much
easier. We are also developing our own lyrics creation tool, which will
soon be available.

There are also several Internet sites where you can find lyrics files (for
example, http://www.lyrics.ch or http://www.lyricshq.com ) and also lyrics
file with time-tags (for example, http://come.to/mp3lyrics)

6. Note about the example song

The example song (Torn, by singer Natalie Inbruglia) and its lyrics have
been included only as an example of the use of the program. The song is
not complete (only 1 minute) and is deliberately a very low-quality file.
If you want the song, buy the CD.

We do not intend to infringe any copyrights with this example song, and if
we are told that we do we will immediately retire this example song.

7. Registration

SayWhat is a shareware program. You may use it for free during 30 days for
